    Interesting Metformin chat with GP

I posted this as an update in the Success Stories and Testimonials forum, but some of it is worth pulling into here. I noticed my blood pressure and occasional finger prick readings were up a bit (as is my weight) so asked for a review test. HbA1c 41 (I really expected it to be higher)...

    Libre readings in remission.

As I stopped testing when I was declared in remission last autumn I thought I might as well pay for a Libre and see how things stand now. At my favourite restaurant in Siena today, for the first time 4 years, they greeted me profusely like I'd not been away. I told Lella (the cook) I wanted a...

    Remission.

Following on from https://www.diabetes.co.uk/forum/threads/almost-in-remission-i-think.177857/#post-2328473 It's well over a year since I was last tested, so I chased the surgery and said I want an annual follow up. Bloods given last Thursday and I've an appointment at their Diabetes Clinic...

    Well I never...

I've discovered I can eat oranges again. One whole large juicy orange produced a rise of 0.9 after two hours. Nice to know. I'm starting to wonder if I've repaired my insulin resistance a bit. Maybe I should test some porridge tomorrow.

    Cold Feet

I have terribly cold feet, especially working from home with my feet under a desk all day. The rest of me is fine, so it's not a general heating issue (in any case I am not happy to burn money all day heating the flat just for this). I'm presuming this is likely a side effect of the T2 as it...

Almost (?) in remission I think.

My blood test results from last week are in. I had to push the GP to get the tests done as the last ones were in June and they considered October too soon... I pointed out I've been very strict with myself dietwise and need to know it's working - plus I decided to stop the statins and halve the...

How am I doing, do you think?

This is a fantastically useful and helpful place, thanks to you all. Picked up my blood test results today which look like a good start. HbA1c was 81 on the 9 March 2020 (the results were given on the 23 March when I was formally diagnosed T2 and started Metformin, etc). Then it was still 70...

    Wholemeal Rye Sourdough result...

(I posted this in the Type 2 forum but think it should have been here) Hello all, new person here (though reading from the shadows for a while). One of the things I've been a little unsettled by since T2 diagnosis in March (HbA1c of 81) was what to do about my long-term habit of making my own...
