    Daily testing v HBa1c

Libre HBA1C is NOT very accurate. It is so far out that I just think of it as another thing worth tracking. If the Libre's Estimated HBA1C is going down, a real HBA1C is likely to be reducing. However, they measure different things so do not expect them to be the same or very close. My real...

    Dawn Phenomenon

Things maybe slightly different for me as I have Type 1. However, I will share my experience on things that help with DP - I find that my BG will keep rising when I get up until I eat something. I think it is something about my body thinking I am starving myself. Therefore, I try to eat...

Blood sugars on libre and my journey

Sadly not as it is measuring something different. My Estimated HBA1c"from Libre is a consistent 10 lower than the real blood test. I think of it as another useful metric to track - if my "Estimated HBA1c" is coming down, so is my "real" HBA1C.

There is often a confusion between body scanners (the things you stand akimbo in a scanner) and metal detectors (the usual arch way that you get at airports, venues and you see in American schools), Metal detectors are fine for diabetes tech.

    Help a mummy

What a lovely, thoughtful son you have @sgiane Diabetes UK (this forum has nothing to do with the charity), has a guide for children with diabetes called "My Life"". It is aimed as children a little older than your son (ages 7 to 11) but you may find it useful to read through together. You can...

@Nicola M your advice is fantastic (the best so far :)). I have a few additions based on my experience. The advice I was given (and have always followed) is to take at least twice as much of everything than you think you need. This includes spare insulin pens if you use reusable ones and...

Why did you not want to go through a scanner with a CGM? Mine have been through many scanners and completely unaffected. I would not take my insulin pump through a full body scanner but the metal detectors are fine with pump and CGM.

    Frequency of Tresiba dose adjustment?

I change my basal most days. This i because I have days when I exercise (I need less basal for the next 24 hours), days when work is more stressful (I need more basal) and normal days. That is without considering days when I am ill or goi g down with a bug or hormonal changes or days when it is...

    Omnipod is awesome

@TheSCManiac I am glad you are finding the OmniPod beneficial. Is this your first insulin pump? I ask because I am curious why you specify the OmniPod and wonder if there are any specific features I am not aware of. Can you clarify why you need "a good phone" for the Dexcom? Sorry for all the...

Finger tip question - no squeezing?

I was told not to squeeze my finger because it bruises it. But i was told I could “milk” my finger - squeeze the blood from further up the finger. However, I find warming my hand before pricking avoids the need to squeeze.

    Type 1 Novorapid insulin storage

My understanding is that if the insulin is out of the fridge for a day, it has one day less of it’s post fridge life when I next get it out. I follow this principle when traveling - I take my pump back up pen cartridges out of the fridge when away overnight and keep tally of the number of days...

Five Guys Burgers - lettuce wrap

Brioche should not have high sugar content. A traditional brioche is a rick dough made with milk and butter but not necessarily sugar. Some may be sweet but it is not necessary for a traditional brioche. Real brioche is light and buttery and far from over processed. Sadly, burger restaurants do...

Car insurance cancelled after switch to insulin

I have never had this problem. I find insurance companies have little interest in my restricted licenses (although I always declare it). I believed that they cannot charge more to insure a driver on a restricted license as this would be disability discrimination so I am surprised that they can...

    CARB FREE MEALS

This advice from your team makes no sense. Eating no carbs will not test your basal as it your BG will raise through eating non-carb. This describes how to do a basal test. Note: salad will contain carbs. Even lettuce has carbs in it.

    CARB FREE MEALS

A carb free meal will not help. In the absence of carbs, our body will break down protein so you will still need insulin. It is recommended to do a basal test over 3 x 8 hour periods during which you do not eat. So, you do not have to go for a whole day of fasting - just 8 hours at a time.

Healthy BMI - Recently Diagnosed Type 2 at 34 years old - (Help Required!)

Do you shower first thing in the morning? I ask because the rise could be due to Dawn Phenomenon/Foot on the Floor and it could also be the affect of the hot water on your sensor. That said, there is no problem with stabilising in the 6s.

Like @EllieM I wondered whether the aquajogging (something I have never heard of but like the idea of) is reducing your basal requirements. I find when I exercise enough to raise my heart rate, I need 15 to 20% less basal for the next 24 hours. This is really easy with an insulin pump and not...

    Libre 2 inconsistencies

Is it a new sensor? I ask because you may be experiencing "insertion trauma". It is common for our body to react to the alien object in our arm when it is first inserted which will affect the readings. This is why some of us will insert a new sensor a day or two before activating it. Could you...
