Diabetes eating sugary foods & self harm

Just a thought but could you trial a CGM. I was testing new foods for the sake of my husband and once you see high numbers those foods aren’t so appealing anymore. At least that’s how I feel anyway.

Getting an 11.3 blood sugar down

I’ve always struggled with my overnights since they took me off insulin during my pregnancy. It varies from what I’ve eaten in the day but today I just had a lick of FF creamer in the am after yesterday’s disaster but I’d say it will probably still be spiking over night with that. I’m not...

Getting an 11.3 blood sugar down

My BMI is 19.3 now, I put weight on very easily, just recently found out I have PCOS. My last HBA1c was 30 a few weeks ago but I’ve been controlling it in a weird sort of way by making mistakes and then fasting trying to get my numbers down when I mess up. I’m very carb sensitive. Have to get...

Sorry I’m not meaning to upset anyone I know you can’t diagnose and I’m not looking for medical advice just personal opinions. I had ‘gestational diabetes’ but I believe it was in fact undiagnosed as I had symptoms for years, thirst, frequent urination, diabetic foot ulcers, Utis, thrush on...

    Advice needed -slightly complicated

Thank you but I don’t have anaemia anymore. That’s not good advice for me as if I eat something high carb I can go up to 13’s sit there for ages, feel sick, thirsty running to the toilet and have to lie down. Be spiking all night and itching and not sleep. A metabolically well person that...

    Advice needed -slightly complicated

Hi Lucy thank you for your kind reply. Since I had to increase carbs for the treatment everything has gotten worse with the symptoms and my numbers. I did have a few slip ups lately and there has been a lot of stress so I don’t think that’s helping me either. I’m just so so depressed I feel...

    Advice needed -slightly complicated

I spoke to an NHS dietician before and she told me to have a healthy balanced diet with semi-skimmed milk, low fat everything and to snack all the time, I don’t trust them the NHS dietician’s are the worst in my opinion. Oh and to have plenty of fruit and starchy carbs!

    Advice needed -slightly complicated

Thank you for your reply I would love to believe I am wrong but I’ll sit up for hours at high numbers. Like if I have something to eat at lunch depending on what it is it will remain high or continue to spike. It’s not even within the range for diabetics as per the diabetes website. Nhs...

    Getting back on track

Yes so I got a lab HBA1c in Dublin at 12.45pm on Sunday and it was 30 mmol/l then we did another one via forthwithlife on Monday lunch time and it was 31mmol/l. I’ll get another one sent off tomorrow but I suspect it will be up at least another few points. Like I say I’m above 6mmol most of the...
