    Low Carb Recipes

I have to say, I was the most anti-cauliflower person ever. Tried grated raw cauliflower instead of rice over the weekend. Just grated, some spices & herbs in a dry frying pan. With a very good lamb curry (Obviously!) I was amazed - for all you doubters out there, try it, it doesn't taste like...

    Shell shocked

It's a dreadful shock to be diagnosed. It happened to me in December 2012, just before xmas. Thankfully, there are a lot of resources online to help you figure out how to deal with it. It is very daunting. The main advice I'd offer is this: Find out what works for you. There are some very...

How much weight have YOU lost?

Dropped from 105kg when diagnosed in Dec 2012 to 89.4kg last week. Haven't weighed myself this week. LCHF, cut out sugar and sweets etc - same old same old, funny how the NHS doesn't take any notice of all these results :banghead:

    Miracle juice

I think the fact that it is juiced is a problem, as you are basically just drinking Apple Small: 16g Carbs Beetroot small: 8g Carbs Carrot small: 5g 29 grams of Carbs in a glass, with no digestion (as it's juiced). Really bad idea imo.

    A seemingly random question

Thanks, I'm trying to figure out if this is a sensible approach - i.e. that I can't be completely controlled 100% of the time, or if I'm looking for an excuse to eat stuff I shouldn't every now and then... :( 'Tis a tough road isn't it

    A seemingly random question

Hi, Last night I was having a discussion with my lovely lady about the dangers of spikes for me, and the question that came out was this: At what point is a high BG spike bad? For example: If you are well controlled, hba1c of 39, and go out and eat rice, potatoes etc for one meal every few...

    Very hungry new Diabetic

To put it simply, we are all different. Where we are similar, generally, is that the majority of those of us who have had success in reducing our blood sugars have done the following: 1) Test before eating anything 2) Test again, 1 hour after, and 2 hours after. 3) Decide upon an acceptable...

How highly would you recommend eating low carb?

In my experience, yes. The more carbs I eat, the more hunger pangs I get, because they (the carbs) tend to fluctuate my blood sugars more, which leads to all manner of signals going off.
