Hot weather/ poor sleep/ increased BG in morning

Thank you. I hope so too - fingers crossed! :) It’s the first time I’ve been ill since my T2 was diagnosed so I haven’t experienced this kind of blip before. I’ll be ready to expect it next time.

Hot weather/ poor sleep/ increased BG in morning

7.3 this morning :( I’m thinking maybe this cold/cough (generously shared with me by my granddaughter) is more of a factor than the heat/poor sleep

Hot weather/ poor sleep/ increased BG in morning

Thank you I know it’s not a huge change, but my readings have been pretty consistent for the last few months and these are different, although I also have a summer cold at the moment so maybe that could also be a factor ‍

Hot weather/ poor sleep/ increased BG in morning

Hi, hoping someone more knowledgeable might be able to shed some light on this. I was told to check my BG every morning before breakfast. Usually it is somewhere between 5.8 - 6.2, however the last 2 mornings it has been 6.7 & 6.8. Is the hot weather and consequently the last two nights of...

    Bananas make me sleep

When my T2 was diagnosed, the DN told me that one of the 2 fruits I should avoid completely is bananas (the other being grapes) ‍♀️

    Am I crazy?

Agreed - my motivational mantra is “yes, I miss potatoes, but I’d miss feet and eyesight much more”

That sounds similar to how I eat, but you could maybe try cutting out the evening meal carbs and see if that makes a difference? I totally get the food messaging concerns with your children, but they won’t even notice as long as the rest of your plate is broadly the same as they’re eating Do...

    Medication queries

How low did you go when previously ’low carb-ing’? It may be that you need to go lower initially to kick start weight loss - I found 20-30g a day worked well for me but we’re all different and it may be you need to experiment a bit to find your optimum level. Now I’m at a weight I’m happy with...

    First hba1c test

I echo what everything else has said - mine was 94 on diagnosis last October, but with Metformin and v low carb (from veg and a little fruit) I got it down to 34 in 3 months. Metformin was halved and I came off it completely 4 weeks later. I’ve lost 65lb and my blood pressure and cholesterol are...

Just Diagnosed Pre Diabetic, What Now?

I just want to echo all of the above, I was diagnosed with an HbA1c of 94 but reduced it to 34 in 3 months and have put my diabetes into remission with low carb high fat - it still blows my mind that by reversing everything I was told my whole adult life about avoiding fatty foods I am fitter...

    Type 2 weight loss journey?

It sounds like I’m where you were 4 years ago (I weighed 14st 8lb last summer, now 9st 12lb), which gives me huge encouragement that I can maintain this long term :)

    Low carb potatoes

Yes, my understanding is the same. I decided it’s easier just to buy a few baby potatoes occasionally than trying to grow some and getting too many all at once that I wouldn’t be able to use.

    HbA1c 94 to 34 in 3 months

Thank you :) I’m grateful for the help I’ve been given here on the forum, and if my experience helps anyone else, I’d be happy to have been able to pay it forward

    HbA1c 94 to 34 in 3 months

I have another update. Since the last blood result I stopped the Metformin completely and, as well as my 1 slice of toast first thing every morning (14g carbs) which I have had from day 1, I have been eating a small amount of potato with my evening meal most days (eg 1 roastie/6-8 chips/3 baby...

    Seed crackers M&S

I can highly recommend this recipe https://www.dietdoctor.com/recipes/low-carb-sesame-crispbread (although I don’t put in the PHP or water) I’ve made several batches, varying the seeds and chucking in whatever cheese needs using up, they’re dead easy and delicious - several of my colleagues are...

    Fruit. Thoughts please..

My DN told me to limit fruit - berries are best, but absolutely no bananas or grapes under any circumstances I find these visual guides useful https://www.dietdoctor.com/low-carb/fruits

    Low carb potatoes

Wilko have Vivaldi seed potatoes, am wondering if it’s worth giving them a try, but according to Sainsbury’s website, Vivaldi and Jersey Royals both have the same carbs (13.6g per 100g)
