    Frustrated

I don't remember the exact result, but I was told it was a normal amount. This made sense to me as pre-keto taking insulin even in high amounts did nothing, but when I was struggling with these highs after the test using the insulin again (briefly, with permission from my diabetic nurse at the...

    Frustrated

I have high levels of stress in my life from being a fulltime carer and unsavoury neighbours. Unfortunately I can't magic wand that away (wish I could!) but it's strange if it's only giving me highs some of the time. I do have other health conditions but my endo or other doctors never suggest...

    Frustrated

Hi, I apologize as I called it a "GAD" test for some reason and have now edited my post, but yes I had a C-Peptide test when this happened last year ruling out T1 and T1.5, followed by genetic testing ruling out MODY. Don't know where I got "GAD" from, my mistake!

    Frustrated

I'm a young type 2 diabetic (28, diagnosed at 14) and I've been using the keto diet (OMAD, ~20 carbs maximum daily) to manage my diabetes since Nov 2021. Overall it's been great and I managed to get to a place where I no longer needed my Gliclazide at all, but I hit these rough patches where for...

Depressed about medication and life generally

I'm exactly the same, and can struggle with binge eating. I found starting keto (and not counting calories, just keeping an eye on carbs) was the best I ever felt about food for months. I personally started doing OMAD to help with insulin resistance but have stuck with it simply because I enjoy...

Depressed about medication and life generally

Have you tried low carb alternatives? I also deal with cravings and I don't think I could do it without low carb desserts from places like DGF, and have recently added low carb wraps to some meals too. It's always best to test before and after meals to see how your blood sugars handle sweeteners...

    Food and treats.

As a fellow chocolate addict, I rely on low carb alternatives with rare treats - although I went many months without any of those first, which helped me gain a sense of control. (sadly, still love the real stuff! ;)) I still have some dessert everyday, it's just very low carb. I'm very thankful...

    Sudden high sugars

Long time no update. I finally received my test results that I do not have MODY. I am a young type 2 (diagnosed at 14/15). I also finally had a telephone appointment with a member of the endocrinologist's team this week who agreed the signs seem to point to lipodystrophy given I developed NAFLD...

    High morning blood sugar

I've been following a low carb diet (20-25g roughly daily) since November last year and have managed to get my HbA1c from over 100 to 58 and I'm working on getting it lower. I found after stubborn high readings by doing OMAD my before and after meal levels are great - usually always 4s and 5s...

    Sudden high sugars

Sadly they came back as "lab error", but my diabetic nurse is now saying they can do them at the GP this time. They were booked in for Friday but sadly my mother who I care for tested positive for covid 5 days ago, so I don't want to risk spreading it so will rearrange when she calls me.

    Sudden high sugars

Sadly my hospital appointment has now been changed to a telephone one, but I am pleased to update that my bloods have been in range for a month thanks to sticking to OMAD. Turns out even a tiny snack like an egg spikes my sugars a lot during the day, but only eating dinner late on the evening...

Endocrinologist cancelled yet again... this time I didn't find out until I arrived for the appointment o_O

    Sudden high sugars

Sadly bloods have been in the 7-10 range for most of February... I found in the last few days eating one evening meal a day got my sugars down and keeps them stable but if I even have so much as one plain egg during the day they rise back up and stay there. Not ideal as my vertigo doesn't love...

    Sudden high sugars

Got my latest hbA1c result, it's 58. It was 77 in December and 101 the last time it was recorded in 2019, so probably even worse when I started this journey in November. I'd expect it to be lower if I weren't having these sudden increases in sugar for weeks at a time with no diet change, but at...

    Sudden high sugars

Thanks, I'll make sure to do the same. Sorry to ask another question, but did you take your diabetes medications prior to the test? I'm trying to get hold of my DN to find out if I should but because I take Gliclazide I assume that could impact it.

    Sudden high sugars

Thanks for the tips! I know they've also booked other blood tests with it that are fasting but didn't reschedule those, so I wonder if they'll be voided. Did you just note down your sugars at the time for the consultant later or give it to them?

    Sudden high sugars

Bloods are back to being between 7-10, even with fasting until very late evening. It curiously seems to be in the two weeks leading up to my time of the month and fell last time when it arrived, but I've never experienced such a large disturbance because of that and haven't heard of it happening...

    Sudden high sugars

I've finally had some blood tests booked, including a c-peptide test, but I am a bit confused as they've gone from telling me it's a fasting test to saying I need to eat a meal beforehand, but when I search it online it says it's a fasting test (and also don't take my medication on that day?) I...

    Sudden high sugars

My morning sugars have risen from 5 to 8, despite them usually being 6 two hours after my dinner, and me not eating anything after or making any changes to my diet (been eating the same meals since new year because of this issue). I know food is far from the only factor. My new hospital...

    No Energy And Dizziness

I've rang my GP and they've put my request for a blood test forward, but are emergency only currently because most staff have COVID. I've never had high blood pressure or medication for it. My higher readings were for about 2 weeks and I've had these symptoms consistently throughout but I will...
