    Bolus/ Basal question

Try not to stress because that will also have an impact on your blood sugars (easy to say I know). The body is a complex machine and blood sugar can be affected by many different variables (stress, exercise, lack of sleep, illness etc.). It doesn't make any sense to say just do this dose or...

    Bolus/ Basal question

I was on 28 units of Lantus and 8 breakfast, 8 lunch and 10 nova rapid for dinner. This was what I was discharged with originally with the DSN's back in 2022. My Hba1c for that period was 48. 49, and 45. I had an extreme Hypo following a few hypos before (Blood went to 1, was in A&E Resuss...

    Dexcom G6 NHS funding challenge

All I know is that it is completely down to your local health authority rather than the NHS as a whole.

    Pfizer Jab causing Insulin Resistance?

I had 0 jabs, simply because people I knew who had it, had pretty terrible side-effects and some are still ongoing.

    Day-to-day varying vision?

Thank you all for the replies. My background is in IT and I'm in front of a computer most of the time. I guess, because of that, I noticed the smallest things/changes. At the moment I am waiting for an urgent eye appointment relating to a swelling (2 and a half month wait for appointment...

Waiting time for mental health services?

Thank you for the reply. I did try a few services but didn't find them all that good to be honest (CRUISE, Mind etc.) Looks like we are on our own..

Waiting time for mental health services?

Hi, Just wondering how long you have been waiting for a particular service(such as CBT) on the NHS? (IAPT). My niece has been waiting over a year and I'm at 6 months now and this is for intensive CBT.

    Floaters

Yep, They have all the gear in the well known opticians and some are in all the ones I have been in regarding MECS appointments - they have used eye drops too. Last time I went, both in Specsavers and an independent, they spent a good hour with me looking at all different things and doing a...

    Floaters

I wouldn't say thats terrible control. The NHS target I think is 48. Mine has been 48 and 49 (last tested) the past year and I think it was 57 before that but at that time I wasn't well and caught covid in the process too (one of the early variants). Regarding your question and the 'ending of...

What is your go to stress relieve?

Thank you for the replies.. I do a lot of walking and exercise, and this definitely helps, although only for a short while because the endorphins seem to run out fast! Love music, don't watch TV (cancelled my licence sometime ago), haven't watch a movie since Dec 2021. My passion has always...

    Floaters

Book/Ask about a MECS appointment with an optician (most are members of it). That is a more intensive look at your eyes by a optician with a specific qualification. If they see something untoward they will refer you to an urgent eye clinic via your GP.

    Type 1.5 or Type 2?

Well, I called it type 1.5 as I thought that was the term used when somebody transitions from type 2 to insulin dependant?

    Spikes when exercising

The liver pumps out more glucose into the blood stream during intense periods of exercise, it's just to fuel the extra demand in the muscles which is fine in somebody non-diabetic as the body manages it correctly, but a little all over the place in diabetics. It happens post-lifting weights...

What is your go to stress relieve?

Hi all, I suffer from anxiety badly and diabetes dominates my thinking. To be honest, I hate being in my own head. I was prescribed numerous anti-depressants but they dont seem to work or give me extreme hypos (being unconscious). Last time I was unconscious down a side-alley of my local...

    Type 1.5 or Type 2?

I was Type 2 for 10years or so on Metformin and then the other later oral drugs they prescribe. My last Hba1c on Metformin/Sitagliptin etc was 57, but at that stage I went into Ketoacidosis in December 2021, not only that, Metformin was causing me horrific stomach problems (it always did to be...

    Type 1.5 or Type 2?

I was Type 2 on oral meds, now I'm T1 on insulin. I guess that would make me 1.5? I've never had C-Peptide tested, they just went with the notion that oral meds were no longer working (and to be honest they probably weren't seeing as I was eating less that 15g of carbs per day)
