I am going to try the low carb diet but

How do you know how to cut your insulin? Ive been type 1 for 41 years and was always told I needed carbs. It seems weird to me to suddenly cut them out, wont my insulin (as I need so much) cause me to be unconcious all the time? I take 45 units of Hypurin mix in the morning along with 5 units of...

    What's the highest you've been?

45+. I had a terrible GP back then and he rang after my visit to the surgery and said "I'm just ringing to see if you're still alive" aww how nice of him thinks me, until he said "the lab rang and said your blood glucose reading was 45+". I felt fine which was scary.

Fizzy drinks and people who don't listen

Your blood sugar hit 30 after a few mouthfuls of Pepsi? Wow, did they forget to add the water to the syrup? At my KFC the drinks machines are right infront of you so I suppose all you can do is watch them go to the machines. Or specify "it must be diet" when ordering.

    DVLA driving licence renewal

    Victoza in type 1's

Thanks all. My main concern is my kidney, one Dr says it will harm it in later stages and I cant go through another transplant and all that comes with it. Such a dilemma. :(

    Victoza in type 1's

Since having a kidney transplant in Sept 11, I have put on 5 stone. The anti rejections are partly to blame, as is the high dose of insulin needed also due to the drugs. After asking for help since last March my renal specialist asked the diabetes consultant if I could have Victoza, he said no...

Whats the most annoying thing people say about diabetes?

Yes mine too. I want to slap them. It usually comes with a "face" too. I was having some ice cream when I was out with a group I joined, this male sitting next to me said " I thought you were diabetic?", so I said "and?", he said "why are you eating that then?". MYOB  Would anyone go up to...
