    Not long now...

Sorry guys I didnt have any notifications that anyone had responded. The obs said I would keep my pump on unless I couldnt cope but I think I would feel more comfortable doing it myself than being put on a sliding scale (Im not sure how they work if you yourself have a good idea of what you...

    Bras and pump location

I always put mine in the back on the thicker part of the bra, to the lft or the right. Almost looks like a mic pack when I have a tight top on though. I find it much more comfy than the front though

    Dawn phenomenon and pumping

I had the strangest experience with my night levels when going on the pump. I often did my testing overnight which was always fine and stable, however when I wasnt waking myself up they just kept rising. The nurses dont seem to understand why it happens but the waking up seems to prevent them...

    Exercise - Help Please!

Exactly same problem for me. I dont want the calories before I exercise as I feel its defeating the point of exercising to burn cals but even lowering mine down to 20% didnt work. Intend to try again soon but in the meantime I am gonna eat chips :)

    Rollercoasters!

Hi there, I am also on a pump and LOVE rollercoasters. Thankfully I did florida for two weeks last year before I started on the pump. I was however told the magnets on the rides (the vast majority are magnetics) will scramble and deem your pump useless if you use it. My nurse suggested going...

Raising overnight but fine if testing

I am told to do the 2 hourly testing (I have only been on my pump a couple month) by the specialist to see what is happening overnight but its only when I sleep the problem occurs so two hour testing is pointless. I also tried testing at 1am one night, 3am the next night but its when I wake up...

Raising overnight but fine if testing

Thanks for that. Yes I did do a tad bit more research and just found this info and contacted my nurse. When my TBR ends though it reverts back to the normal programmed one so I am not sure it makes much sense for me. I more hoping that this is the answer to my prayers, I have been struggling...

Raising overnight but fine if testing

Hi everyone, I wonder if anyone else has the same problem as me? I have always had a problem with nighttime levels hence the need for a pump but struggling to come up with the best option to deal with it. If I go to bed on 7mmol I will wake up high in the morning (I dont hypo). If I do the two...

    Type 1 In SERIOUS Trouble

Have you tried Cognitive Behavioural Therapy or something similar to help retrain your brain out of this irrational fear - your nurses should be able to sort you out with funding... at the end of the day you will be costing the NHS far more if this continues

Advice needed re: pre-conception care for diabetics

I am also going through this. My HBA1C last year was 8.1 for the entire year. Then I managed to get it down to 7.7 but they are still considering it to be too high. I am now going through the process of getting a pump as they have run out of ideas of how to get it down furthur as I have no...

    Type One & Hypothyroidism

Hi Becca I was medicated when I got to 9.5 or something, although the UK tends to medicate at 10? The US medicate when you are over 5.5. Sorry if those figures are slightly out but you can see the problem! At my level I felt so awful and had to pretty much beg for the medication as I felt so...

    all alone

I neither feel sorry for myself or wallow in self pity. I am in fact very out going, im happy generally and I do everything I like to do. For someone like me whos carb ratios change every 4 or so days I struggle with any control and it would be nice to speak to people who truely understand what...

    all alone

I'm also 28 and type 1. I get these feelings regulary. I think the problem with diabetes is that it isnt something that you can see from the outside so people automatically presume you are okay. I unfortunately dont have many supportive people around me and my family dont seem to understand the...
