    Healthier Sugar Snacks for Hypos

I use Lift blueberry glucose tabs followed by dried fruit. Must admit to correcting a hypo before it becomes a hypo . Have the Libre set to alarm at 4.8 and only use the glucose tablets if I feel hypo.....otherwise raisins or sultanas which I keep in the little pots that the glucose...

    Freestlye Libre 2

I tried the free trial early last year. I found it very helpful as I sleep so heavily that I sleep through a hypo and hubby has to sort me out......poor soul I can be such a ***** when in a hypo  :playful: I tried to get it on prescription but, as @holdem says, it's a post code lottery...

Type 1 Blood sugars rise as soon as I wake up?!?!

You'd have thought that we'd have been made so that this stops when you retire but it doesn't. Been retired 15 years now and still suffer. Do take an injection before I get up but think I need a faster insulin as Novorapid doesn't help much.

Alzheimer’s being called type 3 diabetes

'Ways to prevent cognitive decline'???? Don't I wish!! I'm type 1 so hubby also follows my low carb/no sugar scheme, we're both retired with no stress and get plenty of exercise. The only thing he suffers from is his quality of sleep is c**p and always has been BUT he's just been diagnosed with...

    Dry blistered skin on foot

I'm a type 1 diabetic but I'm sure any advise will be the same. I have very dry skin on my feet, heels and under base of big and little toes. I carefully use a pedegg on the dry patches after a shower once a week. (I do shower more than once a week by the way ;)) and use a cheap hydrating...

    Shielding letter COVID-19

Same here. Tried both Asda and Sainsburys, both within couple of miles from us, to no avail. When I tried Tesco, which is eight or nine miles away, some-one actually answered the phone rather than press this button for this and that one for something else. As soon as I said that I was over 70...

High blood sugars after a meal.

I've been diabetic since 1974 so my diabetes team tell me that I've lived with it too long for DAFNE to be any use to me!!!! The problem with ignoring the spikes is that they're so high it's bound to make a difference to my next Hba1c which I now have an appointment for the blood letting next...

High blood sugars after a meal.

Thanks but I take morning dose 10 minutes prior to meal and add another 5 minutes to each shot as I go through the day so that I'm taking it 20 minutes before the meal. Actually.that's made me realize that dinner is the only meal where I don't get a big spike. I'll try taking all my injections...

High blood sugars after a meal.

Basal is 8 units of Lantus, bolus is Novorapid and I calculate for that. I alternate between stomach and legs. Thought that the type of exercise I take, walking and cycling, would have helped the Novorapid to work fairly quickly. Sorry just don't like using my arms, tried years ago and couldn't...

High blood sugars after a meal.

Hi all. Suddenly I'm struggling with my blood sugars after a meal, any meal. It goes up to 12/13mmol/L 2hrs after a meal but gradually comes down to around 5mmol/L before my next meal so I don't want to be taking any extra insulin.. We're not getting out much because of the weather so I've...

Covid/Coronavirus and diabetes - the numbers

I don't understand the 'People with type 1 diabetes, which is usually diagnosed in childhood, tend to be younger than those with type 2.' statement in The Guardian. Surely there are lots of type 1 diabetics.....we do manage to live long lives!

COVID-19: are you wearing a mask?

We use the masks we bought for when we're cycling as I suffer from pollen allergies. I bought some extra carbon inners when this all started. I know they're not the best but they are better than nothing and I don't think we should be buying anything that could be used by key workers. Stay safe xx
