Pregnant and blood sugars have gone mad!

Hello lesleyr284, The forum has lots of low-carb experts, but low-carb in pregnancy could well be uncharted territory. You'll also need to be careful about using supplements to help, I would imagine. I've included a link below which may help to explain your morning highs. Ultimately, if a...

    Hypos, how many and when?

hi TROUBR, I find very often that the point where I get hypo symptoms will vary depending on how quickly my sugars drop. If it's the bolus insulin bringing my sugars down, then I'll get fairly strong symptoms. but If it's the basal insulin, the hypo can be more insidious. Also, I find if I'm...

hi POPPY52, If your mum wants to stick to her current diet, then oral medication will be the way to go as far as the diabetes is concerned. (quick, someone fetch fergus!) It's worth remembering, although diet is very important, exercise helps with both high cholesterol and a lazy carbohydrate...

    Blurred Vision

hello RPNKW, Your eyes may need a little while longer to adjust to your better control(keep up the good work!). Even if your problem is down to macular oedema, this is a treatable condition. So the answer is no, you won't go blind. Just remember to keep up your regular eye screenings, usually...

    blurry eyes day after hypo

Hi cyb3rminx, Blurred vision can be caused by rapid fluctuations in blood sugar. It can also be caused by prolonged periods of elevated(high) blood sugar. Blurred vision is also seen in diabetics who have recently been keeping tighter control on their sugar levels (e.g. a newly diagnosed...

    Feeling hypo but BG normal

hi donnamum, Now and again I feel a bit "hypo" after meals (45min - hour). When I do a test my sugars are fine. I've always put it down to my body's reaction to the rate that the sugars are dropping rather than the actual level the sugars are at. hope this helps, the fuzz.

Brand new type 1, need advice

hello RPNK, Welcome to the forum. Your blurred vision could possibly be down to the better blood sugar levels that you've be keeping recently and should soon improve given time. Also, your sugars have likely been so high for so long that your body needs to get settled at your new level - this...

    Diabetic 3 ?

I've decided to make 'idiopathic' my word of the week. an adjective used primarily in medicine meaning arising spontaneously or from an obscure or unknown cause. From Greek ἴδιος, idios (one's own) + παθος, pathos (suffering), it means approximately "a disease of its own kind." thanks Nellie...

    Liveabetes not diabetes!

Fizzy, I do love the positive thinking, but with all the talk of a cure being close, I worry about the diabetes specialists getting that "End of term" feeling and just messing about making paper airplanes and writing rude things on the blackboard.
