    Hypo And Hyper

Well, firstly, high blood sugar does not affect me one way or the other, apart from being annoyed/angry as to how it got so high. As for Hypos, there are about maybe 4 different types I take, ranging from waking up in the morning not knowing where I am or what planet I am on, the butterflies in...

Dark circles under the eyes! Really?

Teresa May has bags and lines under her eyes but I doubt it has anything to do with Diabetes, probably it's an age thing and running the country will be causing her sleepless nights, stress, etc. She certainly doesn't look well and should put her health first.

    Cannabis and type 1

I am not a smoker as such but I do take a couple of joints every weekend when I am having a drink. Does it do my Diabetes any good? I doubt it, does it do me any harm? I doubt it, but it certainly makes me laugh and have a good time :)

    Forgetting if I took insulin?

As mentioned above a few times, Novopen 5, but don't pay for them! I phoned up the diabetic nurse at my local hospital and asked about them, she sent me out 2, a blue and a silver, and I got them a few days later.

    Mrs May has her chips!

I eat chips for my dinner every single day, they are certainly not the worst thing you can eat, so what's the big deal? Also, we can eat anything we want, as long as etc. etc. etc.

    Blood Glucose Before Bed.

I would say 4mmol is too low a reading to go to bed with, especially if you are going to take a night time injection, I dunno if you do. What do you mean "I still had 2 and a half units working."?

    Stuck in a bad web

Sounds like you are suffering from "Diabetes Burnout", i.e. you are not accepting it and can't be bothered doing all the things you have to that you must. Bottom line, and to cut a long story short, if you don't start taking your insulin and looking after yourself you will die. Sorry for being...

What do you miss most from being diabetic

The hungry feeling I used to get in my stomach when I was starving! :P

T1D No Insulin in a Year Until Now..

Impossible, if you are type1 and you have not taken Insulin for about a year then you would have died months ago.

    False hypo symptoms

Yes, I know what you mean. My usual low feeling is like, eh, butterflies in my stomach but sometimes when I check my blood, expecting it to be a 3.1 or thereabouts, it turns out to be 11+ or something like that, so it is probably just playing with us...as usual!

    Symptons of hypo at 4.8?

Well, as we all know Diabetes doesn't go by the rules, it has a warped mind of it's own. I sometimes get low bs feelings, (kind of like butterflies in my stomach) when I check to see what it is it can be as high as 4.5, yet there are other times I check it, without having any major signs, and it...

New HbA1c targets for type 1 adults following updated NICE guidelines

6.5mmol or lower? That is what a normal person's should be, there is no way a T1 diabetic is going to get that reading. We have to eat and live as best we can and I am not going to be under pressure and have a diet like a rabbit to reach that goal. Things and life are bad enough without that, if...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Who knows what goes on during the night with blood sugar, as long as mine is in single figures, below 10, I am happy with that. All the readings on here seem great, to say you are not happy with readings in their 6's or 7's is strange, I think that is perfect.

Something the Dr's dont tell you... VERY important.

I take a Ramipril tablet every morning, I can't even remember how long I have been doing this, they were prescribed by my Doctor as a........???? I don't even know what they are for! Some type of heart attack prevention medication? Maybe time I read the leaflet :)

Novorapid. How long does it take to take effect and what's its duration?

Where do you get all this info? Peak times, duration, % rates, etc. etc. etc. I have been type1 for exactly 30 years and inject before I eat and before I go to bed, that's it. As we all know Diabetes has a malevolent mind of it's own and to try and work it out is, imo, futile. Maybe not the...

Can Type 1 Diabetics eat Chocolate ?!

Of course you can eat chocolate, not loads of it at once obviously, but if you sugar is low or if you have taken enough insulin to cover it then it is fine. I think taking 2 units of Novorapid, as one person said, for 1 digestive is a bit much, that would then be 6 units for 3 biscuits? I have...

How long have you been a diagnosed type 1?

I have had it for 29 years now and apart from a bit of background retinopathy laser treatment on my left eye, about 5 years ago, I have, thankfully, had no complications at all. I was 24 when I was diagnosed and I thought a diabetic was someone who couldn't eat chocolate or put sugar in their...

How do you feel when high?

I also can't stop laughing and put on Zappa's "We're only in it for the money", oh sorry, wrong high :)

How do you feel when high?

My legs feel heavy and I can smell amonia! I never check my bs when I get this, which is once in a blue moon, because I don't want a shock.

    What's your number?

Well before I eat I like it to be about 4ish, when fasting 6ish, after eating 8ish, those readings would be in a perfect world and they are not going to happen because I am diabetic. Other than that as long as my bs is in single figures whether it be 3.2 or 9.4 I am happy. I think expecting...
