    Angry! Angry! Angry!

As your signature indicates you're on insulin then maybe you don't feel the desire to control your blood glucose numbers using diet as closely as those of us who are steadfastly trying to avoid medication. It seems to me that the medical profession would not dream of recommending that an...

Do you like drinking tea to cut your diabetes?

And tea also contains a lot of caffeine which is not too good for those of us who are caffiene intolerant.

    Car insurance confusion???

Just in case no one else has mentioned it, if he has a good driving record with no accidents and no convictions, it might be worth adding your boyfriend as an additional driver on your insurance as it could be a lot cheaper. My daughter added me to her insurance and saves around £200 per year...

    DAILY MIRROR HEADLINE

Without undertaking any research whatsoever, maybe the issue here is the word "major" used on the NHS web site. It's highly likely that the Mirror's figures include the amputation of the odd toe or two, whereas I would doubt these count as "major" limbs as far as the NHS is concerned. To be...

    Missing Wife

My wife has been missing a week now. The police said I have to be prepared for the worst. So I've been to the charity shop to get all her clothes back.

Wear your watch left or right hand....

I wear my watch on my right wrist and I'm right handed. I swapped from the usual location when I suffered an injury to my left wrist more than 35 years ago and never went back.

Paper Driving licence obsolete as from today.

I've never had a photo driving licence, I've still got my old, pink paper one although it's getting a bit tatty now. About eight or nine years ago I thought I'd have to get a photo licence when I got stopped for speeding, but they just wrote the points on the bottom of my licence. Not having a...

    Second Diabetic Clinic Appointment

Well done. Personally I had the pneumonia innoculation when it was offered to me. Having had pneumonia before, and as a life-long asthmatic, I never want it again.

Favourite tv programmes when you were young.....

Oh, and Danger Man, Man In A Suitcase, Callen, The Saint, The Persuaders, The Prisoner and The Avengers were favourites to name but a few. I particularly loved Mrs Peel's Lotus Europa.

Favourite tv programmes when you were young.....

And no one mentioned Skippy! What was the series set in a fort in America with loads of kids and a park ranger having adventures? I can remember the theme tune (I know, not a lot of use on a forum) but not the name of the programme. Oh, and my daughter has a Blue Peter badge!

    Great Prog Rock Guitarists

They mostly seem to be from the '70s classic prog period. The '80s had a few good ones, ie Francis Dunnery from It Bites. There are many great recent prog guitarists of which Roine Stolte may well be one of the best along with the guy from Opeth, Mikael Akerfeldt. That said, the best prog...

Can anyone help me with my dodgy keyboard?

Regretably far too many laptop keyboards have very poor sensitivity and/or travel on the keys. My company laptop, a Fujitsu ultrabook, has an awful keyboard but it's very lightweight which just about makes up for the difficulties in typing. I use an external keyboard in the office which is where...

    Diabetes insipidus

I don't, but a work colleague does have diabetes insipidus following a fall. Her symptoms were an incredible thirst and constant need to visit the loo. She now has a nasal inhaler of some sort which she uses on a regular basis to control the thirst.

Is anyone having problems with Codefree meter giving incorrect readings?

I'm currently using test strips from the same batch as you and, if anything, I think they read a little higher than the previous batch I used. That said, my recent HbA1c was a little higher than last year so that might explain the higher CodeFree readings.

    Any villa fans out there?

As a bluenose, I find myself in the difficult position of either wishing for an Arsenal win or for the game to be permanenly postponed. As the latter is extremely unlikely regretably I may just have to cheer on the Gunners.

Here comes Summer let's stay active.

@Pipp Yes, I'm still trying to get out every lunchtime. Now and then the weather gets the better of me and, on the odd occasion, work intervenes but I still manage to get out probably 19 out of 20 days. I also try to walk around 90 minutes per day on Saturdays and Sundays. Most weeks I manage...

Am I being a miserable old git?

No, you're not grumpy and you're not alone. In my family we mark birthdays by the person whose birthday it is getting to choose what we have for dinner. Usually it's either steak or a chinese take-away. And as for wedding anniversaries, my wife and I normally treat ourselves to something to mark...

Here comes Summer let's stay active.

I'm still trying to walk 40 minutes per day although some days, like today, it's not as purposeful a walk as I would like. That said,my Fitbit say I've managed just under 10k paces with 46 active minutes so far today.
