Type 1 Going away for 3 days and no fridge

Insulin is ok out of a fridge for 30 days, and as I understand it your pens in use should ideally be kept at room temperature. Folks going away often look at Frio wallets. You just wet them, wring them out then the condensation keeps things cool enough. im sure others will pop along soon.

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Can you actually match the QRisk score they have for you? I never can, but then, they must be guessing my height weight for starters. Leicester work gave me reassurances too. It’ll be 3year in June since I went. How time flies! That whole piece is exploding into more and more studies and sub...

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Shelley, in my case coming off the diabetes register has made zero difference to the care I receive, or not. I have not been removed from the retinopathy screening, and still have an annual A1c, plus full blood panel, but in reality, there is often another, rather random, A1c slipped onto my...

Five Guys Burgers - lettuce wrap

I’d wager my GP would rather marry me than send an email. (Long story - I’ll spare you. ) Not having eaten bread for over 10 years his current wife can rest easy.

Finger tip question - no squeezing?

If you don''t already, maybe try one or more of these top tips: Wash your hands in warm water prior to testing. Rub your hands together, a bit like you would if they were cold Drop your hand by your side and swing it back and forth a couple of times Those all should help with blood flow. If...

T2 or NAFLD? ...or, a funny thing happened on the way to the surgery

Just a very brief comment. Antibodies are not static. They vary over time, and with some conditions can vary near day to day. A few years ago I had a raft of tests done for auto-immune conditions, due to some odd symptoms, not easily tied down to a condition, plus family history. The...

In your shoes, I’d call them again. Shifts will have changed by now, and I’d wager, your call has slipped between the cracks. You need a response.

Does anyone prefer MDI over pump?

Unicorns, I'm neither T1, nor a pumper so have nothing specific to offer you except to say that I have watched many people settle into pumping over the years and for some, the early days are harder than had been anticipated. For almost all it becomes a distant bump in the road, once things...

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Scant consolation I know, but if that breakdown had been you, on your own, I doubt you would have waited so long. I believe all the recovery operator have a commitment to prioritize women alone, or with children.

Very High Reading - 12 Hours Post Surgery

To be honest, I'd put it out of my mind until I was recovered from surgery, unless I stayed over, say 10 at all times. Stress, surgery and trauma can raise numbers, so give yourself a break. Self flagellation is not required at this point. If you feel ill, start vomitting, or have tummy...

    Type 1 Testosterone

Thanks for the tag @Antje77 . @Kayden-joe , testosterone is a natural hormone that both males and females have in their systems. Obviously female levels naturally run at a fraction of that of males. As I understand it, your are transitioning f>m, which is an incredibly complex process...

    Weekly weigh in - Fridays

Not wanting to rain on your BBQ, but don’t bet too much on the Libre A1c being accurate. For me, it’s alway over 10 adrift. My lab results are usually 31-33, but the Libre usually has me 19-21. I’m not looking to drive anything lower than the lab result, so I just ignore that aspect of the...

    Will I need insulin eventually?

If you live near to an NIHR, honestly, get involved. It is fascinating. These days a lot of their focus groups and PPI involvement is done via Teams, so it is possible to be involved from afar. I have participated in research, been a Co-author on study output published papers and regularly...

Happy belated birthday,@Antje77 . I hope you had a lovely y dinner, whatever it was. We had the most amazing meal last night. MrB is tasked with replicating it when we get home. It was stir fried string beans and not too hot chillies in a splot of red curry paste. The flavours in the red...
