    victoza

Thanks for the suggestions/ advice. I will go back to the doc if things get out of hand, I'm due to ring them in a couple of weeks with a progress report, so that should give the victoza time to establish itself. You're quite right AndBreathe, weight is definitely a factor in controlling the...

    victoza

Thanks for getting back to me ally1, yeah mine is a long standing problem, a hernia to be precise. I'm just wondering if the omeprazole I take will be enough to squash that particular side effect. Ness x

    victoza

Hi everyone, long time no post! Anyway, I was wondering if any of you guys were prescribed victoza whilst taking meds for gastric reflux? I'm still taking 2g of metformin and 320mgs gliclazide daily, but my bg is still way too high so the victoza has been added today. Reading through the...

    Contact lenses

Thank you AndBreathe for your sound advice. You're right, my ideas about contact lenses have been a bit simplistic- I didn't think there would be so much variation between lens types. I'll go to the optitians next week to get their take on it. Thanks again, Ness x

    Contact lenses

Hi all, First, apologies if there is another thread relating to this, but is there any reason why type II's shouldn't wear contact lenses? My eyesight is dreadful, I have to juggle 2 prs of specs - a pair to read and a pair to see. It's driving me up the bloody wall and I don't fancy the idea...

Hope someone can offer some advice

Thanks for your posts Andbreathe & Satindoll. I've just had a call from my manager and we're meeting on Monday, so I guess I 'll have some answers then. Will keep you posted..

Hope someone can offer some advice

Hi Clive, Thank you so much for your comments. Feeling guilty about letting colleagues (and my employer in a more general sense) down has weighed heavily during my frequent periods of sick leave. I've been very lucky to work with, and for, a great bunch of people and at least this way they can...

Hope someone can offer some advice

Hi Brunneria, Yes I can see the plus side of the Doc's report with regard to my financial future and I'm sure that when the dust settles I'll appreciate the benefits of being free from work related stressors. For years now, there's always been 'one more thing' that I hoped would sort me out...

Hope someone can offer some advice

Hi Kat & Bluetit, Thanks again for taking the time to help. No specific mortgage insurance to cover sicknesses, but will defo go to CAB to see if I have any options in that area. Kat you're not intruding at all, I asked for advice and that's exactly what you've given me! My pension will...

Hope someone can offer some advice

Thanks so much for your advice Kat, I really appreciate your thoughts on this. I'm afraid that part time working or changing jobs isn't an option. The effects of my endo problems together with a nasty skin condition mean that I literally cannot guarantee that I would be able to work on any...

Hope someone can offer some advice

Thank you all for your good wishes and reassurances, they are much appreciated. Unfortunately Kat, my financial situation is very precarious. I have no idea what my occupational pension will be and which tier my employer will decide I'm eligable for. My main problem is a truly huge mortgage...

Hope someone can offer some advice

Hi, As a result of other endocrine conditions, I developed type 2 diabetes a few years ago. I also have other some other medical problems not least of which is hidradenitis supperativa. Anyway, long story short, since 2005 I've had several episodes of long term sickness. My employer has been...

    High Prolactin Level?

Hi Hooked, Your latest prolactin levels are slightly raised. According to my consultant, normal is around 300 - 400. I had a prolactinoma (pituitary tumor) diagnosed 10 years ago with levels of 4000+. It's a hell of a shock to be told that you have one of these in your brain, even though you are...

    diabetes and sebaceous cysts

Hi Raymond 123, Agree with Indy51, deffo sounds like hidradenitis supperativa (I've had this lovely condition for about 25 years now). Might be an idea to ask for a referral to a dermatologist, they have started to treat hs with an antibiotic cocktail and seem to be getting pretty good results.

    Abscesses & boils

Hi Manicarrie, Thanks for your reply - the chocolate fountain is real food for thought! (Lousy pun, but couldn't help myself, sorry). It seems that hs and diabetes are a bit chicken and egg, with each making the other worse so I need to try to sort them simultaneously. Thanks again for the info.

    Thyroid levels

Glad you like the ears Scouser, it takes a lot to get them looking like this, but I think it's worth the effort. As to what's behind your symptoms, I'm not qualified or confident enough to make any suggestions and the same goes for what kind of tests you need. Thing is, sounds as if you're...

    Abscesses & boils

Thanks Catherine The link you've given is an excellent source of info and I've used it quite a bit. I wondered about the possibility of a link with D, because a surgeon I spoke to said that my bg would not be consistently manageable until the hs was under control. Just wondered if anyone else...

    Abscesses & boils

Hi, Don't know if I need to start this new thread, as similar ones may exist, so apologies if I'm asking anyone to repeat themselves, but here goes. I've noticed some posts referring to abscesses, boils and cysts - usually in the armpits or groin. I've had these for 25 years + and have been...

    Thyroid levels

My GP has the same attitude Scouser (I wrote a post a while back about the lengths I had to go to to get a 2nd opinion). But if we insist enough and get to know our assorted medical conditions well enough, then it's much harder for the medics to refuse any reasonable requests we make. It also...
