    Holiday Drinks

I am off to Turkey on Thursday and just do not know what to drink. :arghh: I usually have Iced Tea over there during the day which is really refreshing, but I’m fairly sure I won’t be able to get it. All diet drinks seem to be more gassy which tend to make me feel bloated. OK – I know there...

    Low, Lower?

Well done, Beachbag. I am T2 and just had my results from my 2nd blood test after diagnosis. My HbA1c was 101 on 13th Jan and is now 79. Still a long way to go but my DN said I had done really well in a reasonably short time. Makes it worth all the effort (halo shining). Julie

    Dietician Stumped!!

Sorry I haven't responded sooner - haven't logged in for some time. Just wanted to say thanks all for the replies. A lot to think about but I am getting there. Still some very strange readings though. Yesterday was a reasonably good day - UNTIL - 4.9 (lowest ever!) before my evening meal at...

    Dietician Stumped!!

Hi Daibell I was 60 in January and I'm on 4 x 500g Metformin per day and 2 x 40g Gliclazide. Someone suggested this on another thread of mine a while back and I checked with my Diabetic Nurse last Thursday. She assured me I was T2 but you never know. I will be due my second blood test in a...

    Dietician Stumped!!

Thanks. Ths morning was the first time that I have had bread (toasted or not) in over two weeks. At the moment it seems that whatever I choose isn't helping. This is such a minefield but I am sure tha it will come right in the end. I will check out the low carb forum as suggested.

    Dietician Stumped!!

The majority of my food is salad, meat (grilled) and veg. I am now giving up on Weetabix and Bran Flakes. It was suggested that I try meusli (without added sugar) whch I will make myself. I really struggle to eat a cooked breakfast.

    Dietician Stumped!!

Lowest averag is 7.8 and highest averag is 11.06 over 6 tests per day in the lst two weeks. I can see the obvious spikes with Bran Flakes or Weetabix. But I wouldn't have expectd 10.3 ater 1 scrambled egg only. I'll just have to keep trying. I was give a list showing low, medium and high GI...

    Dietician Stumped!!

I had my appointment with the dietician at the local hospital yesterday. I took along a diary of everything that I had eaten and drunk for the last two weeks with a printout of my BG levels uploaded from my Freestyle monitor. My levels are still high and after studying my paperwork, she...

Struggling to Eat a Decent Sized Meal

I was diagnosed mid Jauary, I am on 4 x 500mg Metformin and 1 x Gliclazide per day. My BG levels are falling slowly - 16 when the DB nurse did a finger prick test on my first appointment on 13th Feb and now averaging 9 - 10 (lowest so far was 7.8 2 hours after breakfast yesterday). So still...

    Timing of BG Testing

Thanks, Squire. I don't know how I got that into my head - probably muddled with the mass of information that my brain is taking in at the moment. Julie

    Timing of BG Testing

Testing 2 hours after a meal makes sense as it must give your body time to process you meal. But would it make a difference if I forgot to test 1 hour before a meal and tested a half hour before? Or even ten minutes before? Julie  :)
