    Doc said I was stupid

Your doctor should be ashamed of themselves. I am also LCHF and my doctor is very supportive because it's showing good results. I'd request a new doctor and report that one for name calling. They were offensive and highly unprofessional. Also, tell your doctor to do some research. Medicine and...

    My mother does not understand.

Take her to a doctors appointment with you? Have the doctor explain it all, show her your results, blood test, etc. Compare them to a normal hba1c. I am unsure if anyone said it, I admit, I skimmed. ;) Good luck. I have stubborn parents, but not with this.

    Unsupportive partner?

I feel quite fortunate. My husband is amazingly supportive. He even went low carb with me, though I never expected him to. He said "I'll eat whatever you make" And he actually likes it! My other family... An entirely different story. They tell me things like... "Oh, it won't hurt to treat...

Poll: Which diabetes course(s) have you attended?

I was offered a diabetic course, but opted out. I did my own research and came up with tools that work for me. I was also offered time with a dietician, but she didn't agree with my low carb - high fat choices and started a minor tirade with me about how I am going to put my health at risk. I...

    Letter for airport security

I travel to the US twice a year to visit my family. I've yet to take any sort of letter with me, verifying my medications. The airport security has never bothered to ask about it. I keep them in their packaging, and my name is on the medications.

    Sooo annoyed!

I have been T2, diagnosed, for nearly three years. I have heard some of the most inane comments, advice and "you need to dos" I've learned to let it fall on deaf ears. Smile and nod... I have it down to a science! It really doesn't do you any good, stress wise, to argue with them. No one can...

    Blood glucose and medication

I'm at a loss then. ;) Sorry I wasn't more help. Maybe your body doesn't like being on the low end of normal? I range between 4.6 and 5.5 and if I go under 4 (which is very rare) I feel sluggish. The fact I am no longer on any medication helped to eliminate hypos

    Blood glucose and medication

I read a few post a while back, that due to their glucose numbers being so high, when the numbers dropped dramatically, they felt really odd. Although it was within the parameters of normal, the drop was so significant that it caused an uneasy/unwell feeling.

    Blood glucose and medication

It is just a guess, but I believe you had a hypo. They are more common with T2's taking medications. I also eat low carb, and when I was on Metformin, I would get hypos/lows in the middle of the night. That is when my doctor started cutting me back on the dosages, and ultimately, I was taken off...

How did your partner react when you told him/her you have diabetes?

Same here! It is good to learn why you are ill, and know how to deal with it. My hubby was a nervous wreck! And I was the sick one. ;)

How did your partner react when you told him/her you have diabetes?

Ditto! My husband was amazingly supportive, almost to the point of hovering. LOL I also adopted LCHF within weeks of finding out I was T2, and he said to me. "I'll eat whatever you make" And he stuck with it! He lost a pesky 20 lbs he'd been packing without even trying. I glare at him for that...

    Eggs and type 2 diabetes

I adopted the low carb / high fat diet when I learned I had T2. I don't go out of my way to add fat, but I do not shy away from it either. I eat eggs, a lot, and within a year my cholesterol dropped drastically. carbs and fats = bad. Low carb and fats mean your body burns fat for energy, not...

    Tiredness Thread Again!!

Sorry to hear about the tiredness. I'll keep my reply simple. I was on 1500 mg of Metformin (Type 2). I "used" to get really sleepy until I cut out the carbohydrates. Since going on a true low carb / no processed food diet, I am off my meds, and I stopped feeling sleepy all the time. I hope...
