    whiskey

I have found a very strange phenomena involving alcohol, which I have drunk far too much of for far too many years. I was diagnosed 3 years ago and am now on 1 x 500mg metformin a day. But since starting the tablets, initially I was on a mix of Gliclazide and Metformin, I have lost 2.5 stone...

    Type 1.5 Diabetes

I have just read an article about this condition, which is often diagnosed as type 2, but is suffered by people who do not experience the other symptoms of type 2, i.e. excess weight, high Blood Pressure, High Cholesterol. I was diagnosed 3 years ago as a type 2, despite being not being...

    Too much Metformin.

I am type 2, still under height. 6ft and 15st 7lbs, having lost 3 stone in past 18 months. Diagnosed 3 years ago, been on same drugs ever since until recently. Two weeks ago was changed from 2 X 500mg MR Metformin a day to 2 x 500mg Metformin straight ones. Results brilliant. Fasting tests...

    Don't understand

I was diagnosed Type 2, 3 years ago. I am now 53. Found out when I would not heal up from an orthopeadic op on my ankle. In the last 12 months have got down to 15st 7 from 18st 10, with exercise. Play 18 holes golf 4-5 times per week and walk dogs on hour per day 7 days a week I now eat as...

If someone else suggests it's all my fault...

I know 3 people who are most definitley not overweight and are diagnosed type 2. I myself was diagnosed in 2007, and I admittedly was overweight. 18.5 stone and 6ft tall. However, I had been complaining for years about my low blood pressure and slow heart rate, 50bpm at rest. BP 105/45. I was...

    Hassled by nurse

I have been following the advice on here to cut down on the carbs. Wondering now if I have overdone it. Every day for breakfast I have two slices of granary bread toasted with low fat spread, tinned tomatoes and two slices of grilled bacon. Lunch grilled chicken or meat with green veg and...

Hi, I have posted before and have some success to report, I think. My Hbac's are apparently 6.1, is this good? Cholesterol 4.1, Bp 122/80 lost 1.5 stone in the last 9 weeks, exercise mainly, and average BGs are as follows: 30 day 8.6, 14 day 8.6 and 7 day 8.3. I take one gliclazide 30mg mr...

Shaking like a leaf but BS slightly high

Could someone please perhaps give me some advice. I am now taking Metformin slow release 2x a day and gliclazide 30mg twice a day, both before meals. I am also taking a lot more excercise than I was two months ago, have lost a stone as a result, but am now getting I think Hypos on an almost...

The Cure for Type 2 Diabetes

I did have an ECG and was told everything was fine. In fact the only comment at the time of all the tests was that I was asked whether I was taking blood pressure pills. The answer to which was no, I have never needed them. My blood pressure and at rest heart rate have not changed in over 35...

The Cure for Type 2 Diabetes

Having been diagnosed a year ago. Started off on Gliclazide, stopped taking it due to side effects, giddy spells and low b/s, went down to average of 3.0, so stopped taking anything for 11months. Then prescribed Metformin, 500mg a day for two weeks and then 1000mgs per day thereafter, (2 a day)...

    Butter vs. spreads

So pleased to read that Butter is best. Hardly have any except on toast in the morning when I have breakfast, as marg and spreads are revolting. Sadly my two Labradors disagree with me, or not as the case maybe, one of them "obtained" a tub of lo-fat spread off the kitchen table the day before...

    When to take Metformin

Interesting about the time of day to take Metformin. I have been taking mine first thing, (only just started, on one day for two weeks then two from then on), and find that my BS levels first thing (pre-breakfast) are high, is this because the Metformin runs out after 6 hours?
