Type 1 diabetic on MDI, recommended to take Metformin too

Thank you everyone for giving your input on this. I feel reassured and a lot more positive about it now. I forgot to mention my previous hba1c was 58. I was very strict for the past few months. I would avoid eating out or at someone else's place. Especially prior to the period, I would avoid...

Type 1 diabetic on MDI, recommended to take Metformin too

Thank you. I didn't know about there are different types of Metmorfin. But I have heard about the stomach and bowels issue. One of my not so close friends is on Metmorfin and she told me she has bowel and tummy issues, so that was one of the reasons I felt put off.

Type 1 diabetic on MDI, recommended to take Metformin too

Thank you for your input. Yes, that's what he has mentioned on my last appointment. I am wondering what is going to happen during the rest of the month when my ratio is lower? I hope I won't be going hypo too often.

Type 1 diabetic on MDI, recommended to take Metformin too

Yeah, it makes sense. Sometimes it's difficult to see it from a different perspective when it's happening to me. There's something psychological that makes you feel down when you're told you need to take another medication alongside insulin.

Type 1 diabetic on MDI, recommended to take Metformin too

Thank you for giving a feedback on how it affected you. I'm feeling relieved in a way. I've heard not so nice stories about Metmorfin, so I was wondering do benefits outweigh any downsides of taking it? I really hope it helps me the same way as it helped you.

Type 1 diabetic on MDI, recommended to take Metformin too

My sensitivity is decreased about 14-10 days prior to my period and my ratio changes through the month. At those days my usual ratio is 3 units of Novorapid for 10 grams of carbs. After period it comes back to 1 - 1,5 unit of Novorapid for 10 grams of carbs. I am not ill, everything else is...

Type 1 diabetic on MDI, recommended to take Metformin too

I am on no particular diet, I am on medium carb 60-90 grams of carbs per day. I purposely didn't eat more carbs, because I would have to use so much insulin. That's what he also mentioned on my last appointment. The only thing I have changed since last appointment is bread. I switched to a...

Type 1 diabetic on MDI, recommended to take Metformin too

I'm sorry if I am asking something which has already been asked. I couldn't find anything on this topic on Type1 forum. I've been diabetic for 3 years. Since diagnosis I've been on MDI (Levemir and Novorapid) Last year I have been referred to pump clinic. The consultant has told me I don't...

    App recommendations

I'm currently using "DAFNE online", on iOS, I found it really helpful. It's free. As far as I know it's available for Android users too, and I can access data if I log into my account using PC. You can export data to spreadsheet, and many more features. After reading posts in here I might look...

    Pump without CGM

Oh, that's good news. Can you please tell me how does that work then? How often you test? How many test strips per month you use? I was thinking that I could probably get freestyle libre for a month or two to see how my sugars are behaving. I will have to look more into Freestyle libre here...

    Pump without CGM

I have a question that might sound silly to some, but I am a bit confused and not sure who to ask. I am type 1 for 3 years now and since first day I have been on Levemir and Novorapid. I have been referred to pump clinic by my diabetes team, and they have told me the hospital will only fund...

Jet lag - Radical Changes in insulin doses, hyperglycemias...

I have had the same experience recently. I traveled from UK to Philippines, 8 hours difference, but I went from 4 to 32 degrees. I had to increase my basal by 50 % and bolus too, but still had some odd hypers. I lessened my carb intake, but nothing seemed to sort it out and stabilise it. I was...

    Changing time zones & basal

I recently traveled to Philippines, which is 8 hours ahead. I was also wondering and worried how am I going to sort out my basal insulin. My diabetes nurse first told me to either inject bolus throughout my holiday at same time as when I usually inject when I am in UK. That would be 6 am in the...

    Singapore airlines nightmare

So I thought I should write what happened to me during my travel going to Philipines and back... On my way there no one asked me anything about my insulin, doctors's letters or needles...the security staff at the airport didn't seem bothered by the fact that I have needles. The only time...

Did you have any contract for services with that client? If you didn't I suggest next time you protect yourself by making a contract which will clearly state in what conditions you can both end the contract and if possible try to find someone who you can subcontract to do the job for you while...
