Yesterday I had a low carb (probs 20g) day with 3 glasses of wine in the evening. This seemed to keep my BG down through the night and at 6am I was on 7.3 my lowest for weeks, a low of carb breakfast (2 strawbs with cream and 2eggs scrambled) didn’t stop my liver dump pushing me up to 11 by 7.30 despite a 2 mile walk after breakfast. A 8.15 am 1.5 mile walk from Victoria to Parliament Sq, followed by 1.5 miles from Parliament Sq to Waterloo , then 2 miles Waterloo to Farringdon got me down to a nice 7 by lunchtime. Then a 7 course tasting menu with wine courtesy of a customer lowish carbs but way more than normal (probs 40g) pushes it to 13 Then walking a mile, a glass of wine at 5 then another 40 minute walk and I’m back down to 6.1 at 6pm, way lower than usual.
So....
1. The morning dump is inevitable
2. Carbs will spike BG
3. Dry wine is good for lowering BG
4. Walking lowers your BG
Well it does for me.
So maybe ignore the wine thing, but be inspired to walk after lunch and dinner.
