Hi @xkayzx Hope you and baby are ok, unfortunately after a birth it can take a long time for hormones to settle down again and with sleepless nights too it can be hard work trying to manage to keep your blood glucose levels in check. What basal are you taking and when ?

Try not to stress it's temporary, i'd try doing an overnight basal test, so as long as your not eating late at night at least 3 hours before bedtime and no fat with the meal, then check your basal insulin at 3am and upon waking and if it's out by more than 2 mmol/l then your basal dose needs adjusting - here's a link for basal fasting test: http://www.salforddiabetescare.co.uk/index2.php?nav_id=1007

It could of course be the dawn phenomenon too, so bear this in mind also.

My specialist stopped my insulin immediately after birth but left me with metformin only which did nothing for my doubled figured bgs too.
I moved areas and my new gp referred me to endocroligist who tried other meds but I couldn't tolerate them.
I have been on insulin ever since.
I'd dread to think what state I'd be in without insulin to keep my huge bgs down. Even low carbing is having a minimal effect on me.
I'm thinking of going back on the r-ala anti-oxident supplement. I told myself I was nervous of it around an operation but I cannot keep my bgs steady now metformin that has been reintroduced no longer works, once more.

Our bodies do change.
After each pregnancy I became more insulin resistant too. Not due to added weight as my last pregnancy I had lost weight on insulin and the 8mth extra work.

My advice is to test as regularly as you can but don't let the numbers frighten you. It is normal. The more info you have for your gp or specialist will help your personal need whilst caring for yourself and your baby.
Ensure gp/specialist is aware of your higher bgs for medical advice.
Things will change to much better controlled bgs, with their help.

I forgot to ask @xkayzx are you breast feeding at mo? As your baby will be getting extra sugar you have floating around. Keep an eye out for increased baby weight and mention to midwife for extra support.

I do understand.
I bought more expensive made up milk already due to having no energy at all. First they were in cartons for days out then they started doing 1ltr bottles for a few days away if kept in fridge throughout. I took some out at a time to get to room temperature.
They were a godsend to me. I found anything which made the job easier and less stressful.
Never feel guilty about it. Those who would critise didn't have my other health problems additionally to diabetes to manage. As well as a baby.
I really do understand how much you have to achieve on autopilot and look after yourself too.
You must be a little selfish and meter read more often to be able to take appropriate action.
You first, baby second, third, fourth and fifth. Ok?

Hi, I can't remember my levels as it was 17 years ago since I had my daughter ( actually nearly 18 years) I have posted a link for you, but have you talked to your diabetes team about the high's ? I do hope you can get some help and support, but remember your body has gone through such a lot of changes and it may take a little while longer to get your levels under control. Just thought, are you pumping or on MDI, as a 1/2 unit Echo pen may be good for you, with small increases of Insulin ?
