Ok

Fasting glucose test done this morning

Nurse took blood and did finger prick tests as well - finger pricks as follows:

before glucose = 7.3
1 hour after glucose = 11.3
2 hours after glucose = 15.6!

She told me that the bloods she was sending to lab were now just a formality and that the diabetic docotr would call me and make an appointment as soon as she'd seen the blood results back from lab.

I guess the fun really starts now!?

hya,
what is it u want to know?
it does look as though you could be diabetic, if you are then keep asking the questions as this is a great forum with lots of people who know the answers

thats fine ,
finding out can be stressful, we are all here for you and have all been in the same boat, take care

Well, at least you are not sitting on the fence with these results.

Welcome to the diabetes forum.

Hi again

I guess my results are fairly conclusive, the nurse couldn't stop laughing this morning - she always calls me trouble when I'm in for anything from smear tests to asthma assesments, still she's offered me own chair in the waiting room!!

Oh well what doesn't kill us makes us stronger (as my Gran used to say! - although something got her in the end !?!)

My best mate says I've just got to step forward and meet this latest development in the same way I always do everything else - like a bull in a china shop that is!!

Thanks for your support - I've saved the forum in my favourites now so I'm able to drop by any time

You'll be fine, Karen. It's good to hear that your nurse has a sense of humour and that you have, too. Asthma? Brrrrrrrr. If I had to choose between a cure for either disease, I'd happily stick with diabetes if it meant I could breathe properly.

Hi Thirsty

The asthmas's not so bad - I take my meds every day and I rarley wheeze - same with diabetes I guess. I've been asthmatic for 43 years (i'm only 44) so its not a prob anymore - scared the hell out of my hubby 1st time round though!!

Just watch out if you need steroids for the asthma, they are not BG-friendly. The inhalers aren't usually troublesome but oral courses can do a number even on nondiabetics.
