Hi,
I've just joined this forum because I am concerned that I may have devloped some form of diabetes.
I was aware of some of the symptoms and decided to investigate on the net before making an appointment to see my GP.
I was wondering if there was anything I should do, or not do before I see him. Particularly eating and drinking the day before, or in the few hours before the appointment, and how this may affect a blood test etc.
I was quite alarmed to discover that about nine out of ten of the typical symptoms are the same or similar to the symptoms that I have been experiencing.
Mostly I have an extreme thirst all of the time, and suffer from regular bouts of extreme tiredness and fatigue. I was putting the frequent visits to 'pee' down to the high amount of liquid intake. I should add that I mostly drink tea with milk but no sugar, water, with the odd coffee now and then again with milk but no sugar. I very rarely drink any fizzy or sweet drinks and alcohol only occasionaly. I wake around 7 am and by noon I would typically have consumed 8 or more mugs of tea and a few glasses of water, but will still have a dry mouth and raging thirst.
probably the only symptom that I can't really say that I have experienced is slow to heal cuts or sores, though my weight can swing up and down quite quickly I don't really have a weight problem. I am about 5' 10 inches tall and typically weigh in at around 80kg
I also have a long term battle with athletes foot, which often affects my crotch, but goes away quickly with canesten cream.
Dave
