From a carbohydrate point of view-spirits are best such as Gin with slimline tonic or Vodka with diet lemonade or diet coke or whisky with a diet mixer or on the rocks whereas some are more carby such as Sambuca,Pernod,southern comfort etc...

Red and white wine are not too bad either in moderation. 8)
 
I find dry red wine OK, in small amounts.

Beer (which I do enjoy) has often been called "liquid bread", with good reason (IME) and my meter tells me that cider does my BG no good at all. I don't drink spirits so I can't comment on those. I suspect that port, sherry and other gloopy, fortified wines will probably have a pretty adverse effect but I'm sure other posters will chip in with their experiences, shortly
