In the last few years I have experienced a number of Health Problems. I have tried as best I could to rationalise the symptoms to take me to an understanding of what was wrong. Apart from the normal diabetes symptoms I have had a major problems with Sexual Dysfunctional,Fatigue and my Vision.

I recently was given a Glucose Tolerance test for Diabetes. After an overnight fast the HBA1C reading was 7.7. I was then given a Glucose Drink and tested again after 2 hours, that HBA1C reading was 10.2.

My question is do I have Diabetes?

What does you Dr say ? Only a Dr can diagnose you.....tell you if you are or are not Diabetic.

Nobody on this Forum is allowed to diagnose.

as cugila stated only your doctor can diagnose.

but I have one question are sure these were an HBA1C test? and not just a blood glucose reading.
the reason im asking is it soinds like an glucose tolerance test you had carried out where you fast overnight get your blood taken then drink the glucose drink wait for 2 hours then have more blood taken. if this the correct test then the way to interpret the results is
anything over 7 in the fasting test is a diagnosis of diabetes
at the 2 hour test after glucose antything over 11.1 is a diagnosis of diabetes.
please consult your doctor.

Thanks for your input. I should clarify that it was a overnight fast with a Sample of Blood taken before I was given a Blood Glucose Tolerance Test. The Reading(As measured by the Lab) before the Glucose Drink was 7.7. The Reading(As measured by the Lab) 2 hours after the Glucose drink was 10.2.
I am asking for advice because Diabetes is a very specialist field and many GP’s don't have a good grounding.(Opinions of Diabetics in my circle)
I really want to try,for obvious reasons,to be able to play a meaningful part in determining what my options are.
More knowledge and a better understanding may allow me to avoid having to take Insulin.
These symptoms did not start a couple of weeks ago or even a couple of years ago.

GPs are perfectly competent at diagnosing diabetes, that part of it isn't at all specialist, so you don't need to worry about your GP not knowing enough to diagnose you or not.
