Marzipan ewwwwwwwwww
Hi all,
After fighting a slowly losing battle for 6 years, I have now been put on insulin along with my Metformin. (I'm type 2)
After talking to my Diabetic nurse Julie and now my Diabetic specialist Frank, we were all in agreement that through no fault of mine, my pancreas has decide to give up the good fight, with my sugar levels going up into the 20's. but averaging in mid double figures.
My Hba1c went from 76 to 101 in a month.
I had always controlled my diabetes well and my blood sugars were kept around the 5/6 mark before meals and lower than 8 after.
I am now on Humulin M3, and am set for 24 units in morning and 16 units in afternoon, for the first week then adjust as required.
I'm on my second day of my jabs and have been told it will take 7/10 days before I begin to feel back to normal.
I had always worried about going on insulin but am now beginning to feel at ease with the idea.

Not being able to eat as many chocolate digestives as I used to.
Hi suffolkboi61

Glad you're coping with the psychological aspects of the new regime, - we don't really have much choice do we?

Do you have to keep taking the cocktail of other drugs that you've listed?

Pasta, sorry to me it's vile, yeuch lol (and full of nasty carbs)
I've been on Humulin M3 for over a year now, 58 units am and 36 pm and feel better and my HbA1c levels are well down. Insulin has no side effects as it's natural. Good luck, and don't worry.
