22+ years of both Hashi and diabetes (Type 3c)…Gp has cut my levo from 100 to 75, and I’ve kept the T3 (5x3) as he is convinced that my high HR is from ‘overmedication on levo’ ( long story involving 4 1/2 years long covid)…felt obliged to take lower dose to shut him up and get referred to correct drs. Anyway after 12 days HR rising ( 139 after getting dressed) but so it seems is blood glucose level. Take two lots of insulin (Toujeo and Fiasp) and have Libre 2 continuous blood glucose monitor…to me looks like gen.BG fasting levels say 2 units higher, and some rather weird unexpected highs on foodstuff I normally correctly Fiasp dose. Question anyone else noticed higher BG with reduction of levo?

Hi, I too have hypothyroidism (Hashimotos) and have been on both t4 and t3. My doctor calls the t3 “rocket fuel” ….now, this is not medical advice but when my heart rate goes up that’s the medication that is lowered (for me). In fact I just stopped taking t3 (my heart rate at the gym was just getting very high). I feel amazing. I would make sure your doctor has tested all your levels. Not sure about glucose levels….
best of luck

Thought I’d posted this before but can’t see it…put in on type 1 as more likely Hashi sufferers who might help than on my type 3c type bit…anyone had any experience of daily BG levels going up as dr.reduced your thyroid levo.dose? I take Toujeo and Fiasp and have a Libre 2 sensor. My Gp 2 weeks ago insisted on reducing my levo from 100 to 75, while keeping my T3 at 5x3, but at same time noticing my BG levels risen generally: morning fasting by c.2 units, while post meal BG not seemingly being controlled by previously ok Fiasp doses, so have to add extra 2-3 units Fiasp say 2x a day…not huge but very inconvenient and just weird, with levo.reduction being only obvious difference. Comments please.

Yes I agree re T3 being a possibly cause of high HR ( I remember the rocket fuel effect of 2.5 T3 when first taken), but I had in-fact reduced my T3 at last blood test for 8 weeks myself to 5x2 mcg per day, but my Gp has no understanding about t3/FT3 and only works from TSH results ( I do the full frees etc 2/3 times a year privately). Reducing the T3 lowers the Ft3 to 30% or less, TSH just stuck below 0.05 almost regardless, and the private endo was happy. But I was also happy with my BG control until this last 7-10 days, thus my query.
