I've been type 1 diabetic for roughly 9 years and carb counting for nearly a year. I'm on multiple daily injections also. Now, over the last month or so I've been experiencing really severe hypos. I've been in touch with my DSN and we've reassesed my insulin to carb ratios several times. I've even taken to calculating the correct dosage and halving it when injecting thinking I should go a bit high as opposed to low and I still hypo. Has anyone got any ideas why this may be. I'm completely baffled and so tired with the daily hypos. I dropped to 1.9 the other day which shows how bad this is. Any suggestions hugely appreciated. Thanks
One more bit of advice please. What are the best quick acting carbs.to carry? I have lucozade and glucogels on me all the time, but the gels don't seem to help like they used to. Also, I have really poor hypo awareness. Will this test alter that, I'm usually in the low threes high twos before I no. Thanks again

Glucose in liquid form is always the quickest form of treating a hypo. The reason the gel isn't working is because you are swiming in insulin, so not enough carbs in the gel to fix the problem.
No it wont alter your awareness as you are in fact testing your blood sugar every hour so you wont miss the low. As soon as you get to close to a hypo for comfort abandon the test and treat the hypo. Things will change though once you have sorted out your insulin needs and reduced your hypos. A massive improvement will be found.
It's natural that you have low awareness right now since you've had so many hypos lately. The reason your body isn't reacting is that it thinks it's normal to be low. If you manage to fix your bs-levels and to avoid all hypos for a few weeks your awareness should improve.
Best of luck to you!
