Type of diabetes

I'm interested to talk to people in my area with type 1 diabetes. I was diagnosed a week ago after being admitted to hospital with polydysia polyuria and DKA. I'm on basal/bolus insulin injections. I'm currently always hyperglycaemic. Xxx

I am in the Redbridge area.

Was diagnosed and been a type 1 since 1977 (Yeh I know - long time ago)

How did you find it when you were first diagnosed? Was your head all over the place? Xxx

To be honest, I was only 2 years old when I got diagnosed, so my mum did most of it. I just remember being in hospital.

Are you near Lakeside Zoewilko. I am from just the other side of the Dartford bridge

No, I'm from Waltham abbey! Near epping forest. It's the edge of essex and London. Xxx

I have family at chafford hundred, basically a few meters from lakeside :)

The rest are in Walton on the naze and frinton.

Useless information I know but just thought I'd share :)

Yeah not too far at all. Actually used to work in Waltham abbey a few years back! how you finding being diabetic so far then? I'd love to be able to offer advice like others can and have but in all honestly even after all the years iv had it I still struggle at times. Iv not found it easy but let's hope you can get yourself under control if you ever need a chat about type one or just to talk to someone in general about anything feel free to give me a shout but like I said others will probably advise you better than what I could lol hope your ok

Aww thank you babe! That's so sweet of you.

To be honest I've been struggling the last few days. Had a couple of emotional breakdowns and finding it hard to get my head around it all. The whole food side of things too are confusing me and I feel hungry all the time. :( xxx

Ah trust me with the whole food side of things your better getting advice from someone else!! My eating habits for a type one wasn't/aren't great at times! My wife's gradually helped me get better with the foods I eat etc but yeah through the years iv been a nightmare with what I ate.

It can be bloody tough but with the support of your friends family and diabetic nurses etc I'm sure ull be just fine.

Just try think positive and take each day as it comes
