I had a recent follow up with the diabetic nurse, and whilst things are looking really good (Hba1c of 6.1), I felt I had to bring up the issue of my weight gain.
Since going on Metformin and Gliclazide after diagnosis 7 months ago, I've gained 2.5 stone. I have cut out a heck of a lot of 'bad' things, and am exercising more, plus have reduced my overall weekly calorie intake. My weight is at least stable for now.
I initially had issues with the drugs, and had to go onto slow release, which was fine, but after talking to the nurse yesterday, she told me that the slow release gliclazide can cause weight gain because it continues to work long after taking it, and if you are insulin resistant, this can be cause fat to be stored.
So she suggested that I try Repaglinide, which is fast acting and is taken at mealtimes.
Is anyone else in a similar position, or has had any experience of Repaglinide?
