I have recently purchased the SD CodeFree Blood Glucose monitor. During purchase, it asked if I wanted mmol/l or something else. I checked my old monitor and that had mmol/l on it, so that was what I ordered. However, now it has arrived and the picture on the box showsa reading of 107 but on my old monitor the readings were low numbers like 4.7 or 7.6 etc. I'm now wondering if I have either a) been sent the wrong monitor or b) the pic on the box is just a standard pic, but that the monitor does actually register results like I am used to with low numbers.

Anyone else bought one that can tell me what theirs measures and does theirs say mmol/l on the box?

Many thanks :)

It's likely you have the right meter if the results are the same.

Have you used it? I don't have my box now, but the picture on the instruction booklets have 107, which is the American units, but the meter measures in mmol/ls. I suggest you use it and see. If they have sent you the wrong one they should still exchange it.

Yes, I was thinking that too. I haven't used it yet, but since it definitely says mmol/l on the box, and that is what my invoice says, then that's what I should be expecting in the box. I think I will give it a go and see what happens, as I have one hell of a headache and would like to know if it's anything to do with my BG levels.

The photo on my box is of a meter showing a reading of 107 mg/dL. There is a sticker on the side of the box stating mmol/L. I think you have the correct meter.

don't keep us in suspense...what's the number of your first home BG test :)
if you have gone LC yet, you need a drink and some salt

LC is low carb diet, it's reducing your carb intake to lose weight and lower your BG... when people first go on it, if they don't drink enough water or add more salt, they can get headaches and feel schite the first week

Thank you, I will have a look at those. OH just set up my monitor as I couldn't concentrate enough to do it. Just tested on the new monitor and it was 7.6. Compared it with the old monitor and that was 6.1. The test strips I was using were years out of date so it just shows you need in date ones to get an accurate reading.

7.6 before eating is a bit on the high side because your next meal could well take you up to double figures, and that is what you need to avoid.
Test again 2 hours after your meal and see what the rise is. Hopefully not much more than 2mmol/l.

7.6 isn't too bad for a new person, you may find your tomorrow before breakfast is higher and as bluetit said, you may hit double numbers after tea
this blood testing link is a good one and should help get your head around the numbers
