Hi

I have bilateral hearing loss, Right being worse than Left, wearing hearing aids. Unfortunately, wearing the aids causes me to have infections in the ear canal at times.

It's recently been suggested to me that I fit the criteria to have a BAHA (Bone Anchored Hearing Aid) fitted to the Right side. Consequently, I'm researching into these devices. There are several different types but it seems the most widely used involve an abutment (conected to a small Titanium screw fixed into skull) to attach the hearing aid.

My concern is regarding potential skin infections around the abutment, as I have diabetes (Type 2 - currently good control) There is an alternative method of connection having a magnet under the skin, allowing skin closure.

This post, on the off-chance, is just to ask if anyone on here has BAHAs and what they might advise etc

Many thanks for any help/advice
