Ascensia Diabetes Care staff climbing British peaks to raise funds for JDRF

Ascensia Diabetes Care staff are climbing three British peaks in 24 hours to raise funds for the type 1 diabetes charity JDRF. Berkshire-based Ascensia, which was established in 2016 as a global specialist diabetes care company, helps people with diabetes manage the condition through innovation and specialist expertise in diabetes. Their products include the CONTOUR blood glucose meters. Ascensia is hoping to raise £5,000 for JDRF, which is the leading global organisation for type 1 diabetes research. Thirty-three staff members from across the UK will take on the highest peaks in England, Wales and Scotland: Scafell Pike, Ben Nevis and Snowden, on 10-11 June 2016. The three climbs will cover a total of 42km horizontal distance and 3,000 vertical metres, and completing it in 24 hours would challenge even the most seasoned of hikers. Elie Kelpie, Senior Corporate Fundraising Manager at JDRF in the UK said: "We're delighted the team from Ascensia Diabetes Care is raising funds for JDRF and are very grateful for their stellar efforts. "Their commitment to this fantastic fundraising challenge and to the diabetes community is admirable and will help JDRF support vital type 1 diabetes research."
