I know I simply couldn't manage it. Seriously, good luck with it given you've done so well on straight low carb.

For me the major flaw with such very low cal diets, is that many/most of those who manage to stick to this unsustainable diet for 8 weeks (or 12 max depending upon particular diet) are still unable to adjust to eating so as to maintain their short term weight loss and lowered BG.
Many of those who (against the odds) do succeed, only do so by adopting a low carb way of eating. - So why not just do that in the first place rather than make it harder than it needs to be. Dr David Unwin's remission figures for his T2 Diabetic and obese patients show that low carb WOE has a much better long term success rate of around 50%!

Fair enough, when you put it like that it makes sense. I still believe it gets a lot of negativity though, even partial completion and some weight loss is a benefit if people are struggling with diets, losing weight etc.

I’ll see how it goes, but have every intention of completing it fully
I really do wish you the best of luck - I was limiting myself to around 1000 Cal per day for three years, measuring everything - I did lose about 3 stone, and was keeping it off... then I was diagnosed diabetic.

Thanks everyone, I'll give it the best I can. I was contemplating not even doing it, since I've lost so much doing low-carb and exercise. But that was by myself with no support or advice (apart from researching and reading forums like this)

But it's not just the 12 weeks low calorie eating, assuming I make it past that - There's another 9 months of support, advice and meetings with the coach to help plan meals to keep the weight off. There's nothing to lose if it doesn't work out better than what I've been doing.

Liking the positive attitude.
Please keep reporting back here.
Would love to know how it goes

This sounds encouraging if you can stick with it: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/czjyy7280lzo
Back in 1989 I was under a trial at Guys and St Thomas's. I started in the January and had to go to there everyof day at the start and then twice a week for the first month. I weighed about 20st.
I was given sachet of the Cambridge diet soups and shakes and that was alk i had for the first week. I was then given meal supplement bars as well. All part of the Cambridge diet. I was also given a tablet which was part of the trial.
By the end of the month I'd over 4 stone. I had to stay on a shake and a soup for another 6 months with a meal of a jacket potato and salad.
It certainly helped me at the time. I was 24 then. I kept the weight off for several years afterwards but marriage didn't help.
However I tried to replicate the diet with Slimfast but it's sugars were too much. I spoke to my diabetic consultant but he didn't want to know. I can't take semaglutide injections or tablets.
So does anyone know what shakes/soups they used?
Thanks Sue

I've been doing it since Monday, dropped around 8 lbs as of tonight. Blood glucose hasn't been above 7 all week, FBG has been between 4 - 5.8 according to my CGM.

First couple of days were difficult when I could smell food, my stomach angry rumbling but I think I've got used to it now. Not really been that hungry the past couple of days. The shakes, soups and porridges are quite nice, I wish I had selected more porridge as it's delicious. Shakes are really nice too, personally for me the soups seem a little powdery even after a good stir and even try blending.

So far so good
