Hi All.
Am now contemplating getting this bernstein book I have heard so much about.
Or the think like a pancreas book ?
What has puzzled me is there are so many for it - and others get more confused 'after' reading it!
I really dont want end up 'more' confused , but I am curious to know and learn more now .
I have worked so hard the last 12months with my diabetes and got the rewards - lowered my
HbA1c levels and improved in my cholestrol, fasting lipids etc...
Know my own meal/diet plan that suits me, holding lowered and steady BG levels now!
Am really after a good book to learn, grow, develop own knowledge etc...
Need it to be easy reading too!
Would love members to chip in with their angles here n suggest a good 'book' !
Have already bought and read , diabetes uk book, diabetes treated with insulin.
Am really ready now for a more depth book... If you see what I mean .
Anna.x :)

Buy them both! :D

Seriously I've not read either but would be inclined to go for Think like a Pancreas having heard some excellent reviews.

Hi nigel.
Am useless with 'science talk and jargon, calculated tables and the maths of things ' etc...
MY math skills is TERRIBLE ... Seriously!
Need a good straight talking shoot from the hip easy reading book.
Its sort of my next stage to grow and expand on things now .

Hi.
Thanks guys.
Have wandered over to ebay and ordered them 'both' !!
Will hopefully enjoy reading them over the next few weeks. :P

I bought Blood Sugar 101, What they don't tell you about DIABETES by Jenny Ruhl, bought it from Amazon around £5-6.
Explains everything about diabetes in simple terms, it's my bible. It goes from normal blood sugar, how to lower blood sugar, making diet work, drugs, insulin, exercise, what you can eat, and much more.
Read the reviews on Amazon and you can also have "a look inside". You can also get it in word format on the internet, I just "googled" the title and read some of it before I purchased, best wishes, Debra x

Let us know what you think of both books :)

Hi all.
Have read through bernstein book this last week...
Am very disappointed to discover he never even mentions animal insulins OR victoza GLP1 peptide...
Have the 2007 revised version book cost me £17 too !
Am none the wiser as to my own insulin [ animal ] and victoza diabetes therapies. As he makes no reference to either of them! Bit let down here - as was expecting the animal insulins [as they "have" been around sometime ]
However was very interested to read up that he manages to reduce insulin 'dosages' to few units a day combined with the low carb diet.
I am 'already' very low carb n wheat free food plan due to my bowel diseases , plus tiny portions eaten to allow for easier digestion for myself.
Taking 48 units of animal insulin split dosed, 24/24 twice daily. [bolus regime]
Am waiting for my other book to arrive yet, think like a pancreas.
Will read this and let you know my thoughts.
