Type 2 BG levels elevated

Hi hope I’m asking in the right place. I buried my head in the sand as far as my diabetes (type 2 no insulin) is concerned due to other health issues. My hba1c rose to 121. I started eating sensibly at the beginning of October and managed to get my BGs down to high 6’s/low 7’s (estimated hba1c 51.2). However this last week they are in the 9’s/12’s range for no apparent reason. My diet etc. is exactly the same. I’m getting really stressed over this which i suspect is exacerbating the problem further. Health wise nothing major, slight cold but that’s about it. Any advice greatly appreciated.

What exactly are you eating? And when?
A "sensible diet" is not the best for diabetes if it includes too many carbs, and for lots of us that's hardly any carbs at all

Both stress and illness (even just a cold) can raise levels. And if that “cold” is actual covid even more so. They should return to normal as you recover.

Then it’s back to being dependent on the food you choose. Obviously you’ve made some good choices to make the difference you have. What have you done?

I agree - even slight illness and stress (amongst other things) may also affect our glucose levels to varying degrees. It's our bodies creating more glucose to do battle with the bugs, etc, and it's essentially a matter of waiting these things out. And it can happen whether or not we're diabetic.

( I've actually found that it's non dietary issues that tend to affect my glucose levels most - unless I deliberately set out to eat something high carb.:oops:)

Hi, carbs average range is 20/30 grams per day. Usually try to eat within 1 hour of rising then lunchtime and evening as BG rises if I don’t eat regularly.

Hi, I think the elevated levels are probably down to the cold and stress. Also, I have not been sleeping well which doesn’t help. I’ve gone back to low carb diet which obviously helps. I take metformin and Victoza (liraglutide) but I have recently started taking Gliclazide which has really helped.
