BG rising after exercise

I've read what I can about bg rising after exercise, but I'm not clear if it's a big problem and if so, if there are things I can do about it?

Several mornings a week I get up and go straight out with the dogs. It's not strenuous - say a couple of five minute stints of fairly aerobic exercise, the rest easy walking/mooching. This morning my bg was 5.2 at 6.30am, then when I got home at 8.00 it was 6.5 - this is fairly typical.

Is there anything I should be doing differently?

Hi Hedonista,

This is very common, once you have depleted the glucose from your blood your body will use up all the glycogen supplies in your muscles, after that your liver will start producing it. Marathon runners have been recorded to have extremely bg levels after a race. I myself see daily elevated readings after returning from the gym. In a couple of hours everything returns back to normal, given that you take in the necessary nutrients your body has lost in that exercise period. Hope this helps
