Big enough breakfast?

I'm T2 and take Metformin 500mg 3 x daily which is supposed to be taken "with meals"

Just wondering if a cereal would be enough to class as a breakfast for my purposes? I'm never hungry of a morning and sometimes it's an ordeal/nuisance just having breakfast (but of course a cuppa or two is a must!)

In my pre-T2 days I often skipped breakfast - not now alas.

Breakfast cereal can be OK as long as you watch the portion size, I regularly eat 20g of cornflakes for breakfast. Incidental a cupped handful portion of cornflakes (in my hand) weighs around 18g.

BUT you must test before and after trying any new food as when I was first diagnosed I found a portion of cornflakes would put my bg levels into double figures.

20g is a small portion about the same as one of those variety packs you can buy, I had one at xmas at my MIL's and noted it contained 17g, some of the other cereal had different weights per pack and many were frosted so no use for me.

Scrambled egg on half a slice of Burgen toast and grilled bacon or half a grapefruit are my other regular breakfasts at present

As I said earlier you need to test to find out exactly what and how much you personally can eat of any foodstuff
