I was just wondering if anyone gets frustrated about the BG levels.

My target range is between 4-10 but i like being around 4-6 pre-meal and 5-7 post-meal, if I'm any higher than this I get really annoyed even though I'm with my target range. is it just me or... '

Not only you, diabetes is 24/7 and we can get obsessed by numbers ! Trouble is, stressing about high numbers can increase levels lol !

I've sort of reached 'wtfp?' with the numbers... Did an upload of BG data yesterday and had the same Himalayan Mountain range staring me in the face as I had 3 months ago, six months ago and 12 months ago, blah, blah...

I've been changing the diet, exercise, basal testing (including today - which produced a wonderful set of BGs between 5 and 7.8), so *** is going on??? Can I trust my meter? Am I testing badly? Who knows, perhaps a bit of everything.

Oh well, hey ho! Back to the roller-coaster

4-6 pre-meal and 5-7 post-meal
Those are the usual BG targets published by DUK, ADA, etc - not sure where the "4-10" comes from.

Also, I love that video - "Before we discovered antibiotics, we used bloodletting for everything but today we recommend antibiotics. Therefore antibiotics are bad and we need to go back to using bloodletting" (13:40-14:30 - does the guy really think we are that dumb that we can't remember what he said a mere minute ago?)

Yeah everyone gets frustrated. It's not just you Alex. Hang in there, you are doing the right thing.

Yup been there felt like that. If you are more or less hitting your targets and your A1c is looking good then you are doing a good job.

For a year and a bit I got really intense about having perfect levels and worked stupidly hard at it, my levels were great but I was miserable.
There is a middle ground where you can be relaxed but have good levels, finding it is the hard part and there isn't a map for it (lazy **** cartographers)

Hang in there you will find what works for you. One thing to think about is that your meter could have up to a 20% error on it and also, depending on how you are, a single unit of insulin could take you from one end of your perfect range to the other.

Like Spiker said, it sounds like you are doing a grand job.

Mine are all over the place at the moment. Have increased my basal by >50% in the last 6 months, think I'm coming to the end of my honeymoon period. Also mine never recover within 2hrs of a meal, 3-4 more likely. Thinking low carb is the way forward although I'm not overweight.

not that I know because I'm T2 but have you gone the other way? too much basal and not enough bolus
get your numbers for a few days, post them and the cluey people can help you work it out

My bolus has also increased by similar amounts. I was using a relatively low amount of insulin according to the docs. I'm going to track it more closely going forward, and increase the amount of exercise I'm doing.
