Blood machines

I have had loads of testing equipment over the years, and it was not until the last 10 years, when I had a great meeting with a Diabetic Nurse, better than any doctor, She introduced me to Abbots freestyle Insulinx, set it up and everything was going great. That is until I moved and I had to buy a new Computer. I bought a new iMac OS X, which is an up todate machine. But Abbots machines do not operate on iMac so I tried what has been advertised on this site, I was sent a Verio IQ. guess what they do not work when trying to use iMac , not supported. Abbots are not supportive of Microsoft 8.2 either. so why does every one keep on about how good these new blood monitors are when Abbots have told me they do not work on iMac OSx and do not have any plans to do so. This I have found out that One Touch verio IQ have no plans either..... before advertising these machines, and how wonderful they, are please also state which computers can be used to print out Data. Unless anyone knows how to upload any program which will allow me to operate on OS x version 10.10.2 because Apple say it is up to the suppliers to get it formatted for use.......

Can anyone help @nicdavcamb with which blood sugar meters are compatible with iMac?

I think best to phone up manufacturers customer service lines or email them just to find out if their machines are compatible....

@nicdavcamb This might work. I see it only supports up to OSX Lion but would be worth a shot if you haven't tried installing it

I don't have an Insulinx meter but the software runs on my Yosemite 10.10.2 machine

Thank you for answering this question. Have rung and corresponded to Abbots upto the Company director for England. He told me that there is not a program available for New OS x series and there is nothing in the pipeline for doing so. This also applies to Optimum. The program suggested on Abbotts does not download, Reads ..Cant be opened because it is from a unidentified developers. so if you have downloaded cannot fathom how.

You can change that security setting in System Preferences > Security then click the padlock (lower left) and type your OSX user password
Then choose Allow apps downloaded from:
• Anywhere

Thank you Robert72, have managed to follow instructions and all seems to be working now. Thank you for your input on this now as soon as I work out the optimum I will try and download, that is if the NHS allows me to use the new test strips. thanks again just one little question do I turn the padlock to close now its allowed this to go through. Many thanks again...

Happy to help. You can turn the padlock to close or it will be closed next time you go into that panel.
