Hello. I would like to know what are other peoples readings when they take there sugar leves? It will be interesting to see for pre diabetics. Also for diabetics. What is considered high? Mine is roughly between 6-6.5 morning and after eating between 7- 9 that is just roughly.
I like my readings I keep them on a big spreadsheet. I find doing that helps me to be good. Everyone should make their own informed judgement of risks based on the information available. I'm a very low risk kind of person when it comes to complications and such like and as such aim for very safe and some would say maybe too safe levels. My ethos is that the safest levels to try for are those of an average non diabetic person as to me that will minimise risks of complications as best as possible.
The UK official for too "high" is anything over 8.5 two hours after eating a meal. Other countries and organisations like the IDF set a slightly lower level of 7.8 at that two hour period. They reduced it to 7.8 a few years ago as later research showed that level to be where diabetic complications can begin if exceeded regularly.
Other useful factoids. Around 19 out of 20 non diabetics will get 6.5 at two hours and 3 out of 4 non diabetics will get 5.5 after two hours.
My personal "high" targets are 6.5 at two hours (so that's the 19 out of 20 non diabetic target) and 7.8 at one hour although I only ever measure for one hour if its something new I'm eating.
As I like measuring and numbers and stuff then assuming my meter has been relatively accurate my 90 day average is currently 5.6, my 30 day average 5.2 and my 7 day average is 4.9. Those averages include a fasting (wake up) one and then at least one pair of before and two hour after measurements.
I was diagnosed full T2D on Dec 8th so some 4 months ago now and on that day all my readings exceeded 20 with the highest being 21.7.
