i was diagnosed 6 moths ago with bs 52 1 week in hospital on an insulin drip now around 7 mark diet meds etc exercise can anyone comment on how long i must have had diabetes to get to such a high level doctors dont give me a straight answer thanks

I suspect the reason the doctors don't give you a straight answer is because everyone is different.
If you think about your symptoms, you may get some idea: have you been losing weight? have you been very thirsty? have you been visiting the toilet a lot?
Whatever the answer, what you do now is the same: you cannot change the past.

I don't think anyone can know for sure. I signed up to online GP records which give you access to your test results and found out a lot of information that way.

I assume that was a plasma blood glucose test? Was it fasting?
What was your HbA1c?
Did you have any other glucose tests?
