My GP is saying I'm heading for trouble with my bloodpressure which is averaging 150/95

over the last couple of years i have tried lots of meds, i was on candesartan, amlodipine, indapamide and doxisozan and all these together still didn't bring me down to a level that the GP was happy with.. but in the end i refused them due to the long list of side effects.

last month they tried perindopril, which i took for 3 weeks before feeling so ill i had to stop.

One of the big problems is that all these meds give me the feeling of being hypo, and DVLA is already pushing me to be 100% hypo aware... if i feel hypo all the time how can i say I'm 100% hypo aware??

The GP's response was get another job so i don't need to drive, and take the meds, then it doesn't matter if i feel like **** all the time.

Im active throughout the day, I've already cut as much salt etc from my diet as possible,

I'm open to suggestions of what todo next

Hi searley,

Sounds like it is time to get a new G.P.

It is usually trial and error in finding BP medications that suit us and sounds like your Dr. is as frustrated as you are. It has taken me ages to get the right combination and side effects can be debilitating.
It might be worth asking for a referral to a cardiologist/nephrologist/vascular specialist as they all deal with BP problems and they may suggest something that you can stick with and there may be a cause of why it is high.
BP is described as the silent killer and you ned to get it down. I don't know if you are overweight or exercise as losing weight and exercising can lower it for some people but sometimes it is genetic or has an underlying cause and needs treatment.
This website tells you all you need to know about Blood Pressure and may be of some use to you
