Hi,

I don't feel like i can be of great help as the only medicine i get on prescription is insulin, but didn't want to see your post left unanswered.

I don't understand why they would take januvia from your prescription, not only without notice but when your BG's are rising..

My advice would be don't wait for them to call you, call them, call your GP and your specialist nurse. Failing that make an emergency appointment monday to see a GP. The emergency being you have had medication removed from your prescription that going without is affecting your health.

I'm not sure if they can actually do this or not, hopefully someone else can answer that for you so you know where to start on Monday. I do hope you get it sorted though!

Good grief  I agree with ebony, call them or make an emergency appointment. This needs sorting ASAP especially when you are getting readings as high as you have been. I would also demand to be referred to a hospital clinic.

Could be a mistake - eiher in stoppping the januvia or in failing to contact you about it.

Either way you need to see a GP asap as the others have said.

Were you prescribed the Januvia by your doctor or by a consultant? There may well be some rule about not prescribing it because of the cost but can't believe that it was intended to cut you off so
abruptly.

When you say you were doubling up doses to bring your numbers down , did you mean of the Januvia?
I think I would be scared to do this.

I hope you get it all sorted out . Hope you can be referred to hospital too.

I was told it was possible to speak to a diabetes nuse in the hospital for advice at any time .
Perhaps you could do this while you are waiting to be referred.

Good Luck.

Shy Girl - are you receiving repeat prescriptions? If so then its possible that according to your surgeries records you should still have enough Januvia left and that's why they were not prescribed this time?
H
ave you been taking more than prescribed in am effort to bring down your bg levels?
You should never be taken off meds just like that. Find out what happened you would need to be consulted first before any changes are made.
If you have felt the need to secretly take more medication there is something wrong, you need more support and dietary adjustment to help you achieve good bg levels.
I am rather worried to think that you have increased your meds especially because on another post you mentioned that you have kidney problems?
Please make an appointment with your doctor and discuss, perhaps ask for a double appointment to give you enough to talk about your issues. Make a list of all you want to discuss so that you don't forget anything.
Good luck x

I would certainly be contacting my surgery and asking them to printout a copy of my prescription. My GP or nurse has always discussed any changes with me at my annual or other consultation. I would be very unhappy if they changed anything other than by accident to my prescription. My surgery uses an online system as one option which I use to re-order and it also tells me what my standing prescription drugs are. There is only one prescription level for Januvia i.e. 100g once a day. It is quite expensive but does work for many which includes me and has a different mechanism from the other diabetes drugs so should not be removed if it works for you as it does for me in controlling BS spikes. Are you taking Metformin SR the slow release version? Ask your nurse to change over to this if Met is causing stomach problems

ShyGirl - can you not chsnge to a new surgery? Kind of have a new start? You obviously have no faith in your current HCPs, not surprising either.

I am sure all this stress and upset is helping to keep your bg levels higher than they normally would be.
