Can't see to inject

Have you or he spoken to his consultant or the senior nurse on his ward? They might have advice for circumstances like this. He may find his vision is a bit 'off' anyway as high sugars can cause blurry eyes.

If he can last 2 more days, order a pair of bog standard reading glasses off Amazon or ebay (make sure they are being sent from the UK, and pay for first class postage). We got a pair for about £5.

Give the delivery address as his name, his ward on the hospital, and include the postcode - the nurses can supply this.

They should arrive quicker than trying to organise someone to fetch the glasses from home.

They may not be your friend's exact prescription, but they will surely be an improvement!

It's sounds as though he is not getting the correct support from the hospital staff.
No they cannot go and get his glasses as they do not have authorisation to go into his home without him being present. Does he have a family member that could go or another friend who he wouldn't mind sending?
The hospital should be monitoring his injection technique and with lack of glasses should be assisting him or at least asking him if he would lime assistance!!!!
I would write to pals to express concerns over care and ask for further support.
You could also contact local volunteer services to see what services they may be able to supply.
Prior to discharge the hospital should put processes in place such as whether he needs ongoing support or care from a district nurse or such like for further support with insulin administration and blood glucose testing.
