Hi,
I have been doing fairly well low carbing an then 4 weeks into it I had a biscuit and that was it for me. The past couple of days have gorged on sugary things with shocking levels as a result. I feel so down and stupid. Anyone got any advice?

Thanks,

Julia x

Try thinking of it as a TRAP.

Once you get caught in it it is hard to get out because it becomes a vicious cycle. The sugar and carbs actually robs the body of nutrients. Your body then starts to impatiently demand more food to make up the shortfall. You then give it more carbs and the cycle goes on.

You have to break the cycle. Have some fats - perhaps a couple of oatcakes with a generous portion of butter or some celery with cream cheese - anything to stop the craving. Fats are more satisfying and can help to combat the craving.

If I have enough fat in my diet, I don't crave chocolate or carby things at all.

I know the feeling Julia, all joking aside!! That is why I just don't buy biscuits and hubby just have to put up with it!! He finds plenty to eat without the biscuits.
Nuts are good for the nibbles though or 85% chocolate!!

I think your husband is being mean as your health should come first and Diabetic or not , he shouldn't be eating so much junk either. You could try offering him something else instead of biscuits?
You have cut carbs before and will again. Good luck!

Hi there,
Back on wagon today though bs are horrendous still. Hubby has told me not to buy any treat for him anymore - i fee guilty for depriving him but perhaps that is so i can have treats too!
Thanks for th support,

Don't beat yourself up, don't feel bad and you are certainly not 'stupid'. What's done is done. Fresh start from now on! We all fall off the wagon now and then, it just gets easier to get back on once you've been doing it for a while.

Good luck!

  Is he fading away? Is he incapable of going to the shops himself? Can he not eat this stuff when he is away from you, for example at work or when out with his mates? Get a grip, he is an adult and perfectly capable of popping in to the shops to get packet of biscuits for work.

Reflecting on your original post, since I have been low carbing I have observed a monthly cycle for my own carb cravings and higher than expected blood sugar readings (even without carb binges). It is not something that would affect the chaps on here, and may be something you need to think about.
