Hi All
Just a quick update and a question really. I joined the forum just over a week ago with out of control sugars that were hitting ridiculous levels. I had no idea how to get them down but was given information about low carbing.

I have been on low carbing now since then and my sugars have come down to todays level of 7.2 after food. I know I have a way to go yet but I am chuffed to be seeing a change for the better, lots of hard work to go but I am enjoying it.

My question is about alcohol, I am going out in a day or two and would like to have a couple of drinks (only) but deciding what to drink is proving difficult. Can anyone tell me the carb value of red wine and lager per glass /pint so I can make a decision.

Any help would be fantastic.

Cheers

Tony

Hi Tony.
Welcome to the forum.

Difficult to answer as all Ales, Beers and Wines are different. Most of the brewers rarely post the carb values as well ? If you are going to drink then try to stick to a Red Wine - it has beneficial effects. There are many discussions about Beer, Wine and Spirits on the forum. Have a search round.

Tell me what Lager it is and I'll see if I have the details ?

Personally. I always stick to a max of 2 pints of Guinness ( 3.2g per pint), OR 1 glass of quality Red Wine (Avge. 0.2g per 120ml glass). :D The odd quality single Malt is also good for you and very low carb. As with all drinking, moderation is the key. The quantities above are my weekly intake.

Not sure about lager, but know it is higher in carbs cos if I have a few my bg's will go up to around 10 -12. Red wine is fine, about 0.5g per glass.

Wny don't you have a few lagers if you fancy them and take your meter out, and test a couple of hours afterwards to see the effects? OK realise you may have to do this subtly not in full view of everyone but the proof of the pudding is in the testing.
