CoQ10 supplements may improve heart health and blood sugar and help manage high cholesterol and high blood pressure in individuals with diabetes. High blood pressure, high cholesterol, and heart disease are all common problems associated with diabetes. Despite some concern that CoQ10 may cause a sudden and dramatic drop in blood sugar (called hypoglycemia), two recent clinical studies of people with diabetes given CoQ10, 200 mg 2 times daily, showed no hypoglycemic response. If you have diabetes, talk to your doctor or registered dietitian before using CoQ10.

In a 12-week randomized controlled trial, 74 people with type 2 diabetes were randomized to receive either 100 mg CoQ10 twice daily, 200 mg per day of fenofibrate (a lipid regulating drug), both or neither for 12 weeks. CoQ10 supplementation significantly improved blood pressure and glycemic control. However, two studies found that CoQ10 supplementation failed to find any effect on glycemic control.

My Doc right now
I've tried it, and it reduced my BG by 1 point.

Unfortunately I'm now on statins which reduce your coq10, and my BG has gone back up.

I've been taking these for a while (although only 100mg once a day). I'd recommend it. It's true that statin drugs DO lower your CoQ10 levels - so if you are taking stsatins I'd advise trying CoQ10 at a higher dose that I'm taking.
