I have had 2 heart attacks and now have prinzmetels angina. Also have reynauds am disabled and diagnosed diabetic last august.
Not a day goes by when I don't feel pain or ill for that matter.
Does anyone else suffer with similar conditions, or as it feels am I on my own?
The amount of medication i'm on is just plain idiotic, but needed.
I wouldn't wish my ill health on my worst enemy.

sorry you going through so much but you certainly are not on your own there.i have awful probs that leave me in agony most days and a bucket full of meds that i am sick of the sight of.get no answers from diabetic specialist, just have to try and cope which can be very hard.this forum helps even if you generally have a quick look.and knowing that you could help just one person with what you know makes it very worth while.

Pump
Hi,

I have been type 1 for 40 years.
5 years ago i had two frozen shoulders one after the other which were excruciatingly painful and eventually took an operation to free up the scar tissue in my shoulders. I also had pains in my fingers, hands and arms. I was completely fed up with it all.

My diabetes was not well controlled and I fought to get a pump. I managed with alot of hard work to reduce my HbA1c so that it is now in the lower 6's.

The pump was the answer to my problems as all aches and pains have gone. Maybe a pump would be a good idea for you.

soaps on telly and people talking about the characters as if they were real.
I had a frozen shoulder about 8 years ago. Exercise classes at my local gym helped. It cleared in about 18 months and has not recurred. My control wasn't at NORMAL levels, but has been for several years now

This is not intended as political in any way - ust an observaion from my days as a ivil Servant and probaly just something that is apparent to all.
When one government are very generous with benefits and perhaps do not check very stringently in checking entitlement, this causes outrage in some pepple and encourages others with sometimes very little genuine reson to claim . Because this serves politicaaal expediency nothing is done. Money for all!

Then we have a change . The new government and many of its supporters are concerned about he welfare bill. {I am not just referring to he present situaion it has often happened in the past}

he incoming government are ubnder pressure to make immediate changes/savings etc. How is this possible in a few years?
It isn't . At least not in any way hat is fair to the individual. So what happens? You are no more an individual than you were to the previous lot who threw money at you so they could clai hey were helping families or the disabled. Incidentally , creaing larger families and more "disabled " along the way .

Now if you are of working age - and this classification is rapidly being expanded - it doesn't seem o matter how much pain you are in ,or how ruly disabled you are - you are "fit for work " regardless." Foreigh firms are imported to deal wih this mater even.
So in this situation who s to blame?
It is all a matter of massaging the figures . Of course things change - sometimes for the beter sometimes not but individuals don't always have he capacity to change especially when old, sick , disabled or all three.
The same point could be made about education . A generation of young people who have been expensively educated naurally have hgh epectations but find there are no jobs. University places for all was not an egalitarian decision but a means of appearing o reduce youh unemployment.
The same is rue with the est strip issue . At one ime strips and meters were gaily slung at every newly diagnosed diabetic.
T2s were not educated in their proper use. For many it was indeed , a great waste of money. So how was his changed?
In any places by denying or restricting srips for all - even T1s for whom it could be fatal.
The baby and the bathwater all the ime!

he culprit is not one political pary or the oher. It is "short termism" and people like nanaclaire are the victims.
Rant over.

:)

All my illness's
I would say it depends on the arthritis. I have arthritis but it us certainly not caused by diabetes as I have had it for many years and only just been diagnoses with diabetes.

There are however various types of arthritis.

I would be interested to know how diabetes causes arthritis though?

Hi

I too had frozen shoulders back in the late 90's. One shoulder was frozen for about 3yrs before it freed and the other shoulder was frozen for about 18months. At the time my shoulders were frozen, it was not mentioned to me at all that my bg levels were to blame.
Lots of people who are not diabetic also get frozen shoulders... its fairly common.

My first shoulder was manipulated 3 times in all before it righted itself and the second one I just left and waited for time to be the healer, which worked.

I dont know why, but I think women in their mid 40's and above are affected by frozen shoulders whereas men dont seem to be so much. The good news (so I have been told lol) is that once both shoulders have been frozen, the problem doesnt tend to occur again.

I have kidney failure, heart problems, neuropathy of both feet and now hands are getting it, and retinopathy. The reason I have all these complication is, I'm now told, I was too controlled. My hb1c has always, since I was diagnosed, been between 5 and 6. I was told when I got diagnosed, nearly 14 years ago, that if I kept my hb1c controlled, under 7, I wouldn't get any complications, so I was militant in keeping my bloods controlled, and yet I still got the complications, now I'm told I was too controlled! You can't win lol!

I also have carpel tunnel in both wrists, I didn't know this was linked to my diabetes? I'm a type 1. I also get horrific spasms, which I learnt is related to diabetes by talking to other diabetics.

I don't know about other areas but here in Peterborough I can get test strips whenever I want. I'm not sure if that's because of all the complications I have, or the amount of tablets I have to have (I currently take about 40 tablets a day, I'm also on constant high dosage of morphine daily) or if everyone gets the test strips. Your diabetic care really does depend on where you live.
