I have the meter and have no problem with it.

@ally1, I found the Contour Next to be an excellent meter when using it, not sure about the cost of the strips and the lancets (I'm type 1), but don't forget you can just use the finger pricker from your Codefree meter if the lancets work out cheaper.

I've found it more consistent that the SD Codefree in side-by-side tests

Even as a T2 you can ask for strips on prescription. The PIP code is in the box
Whether or not you are given them is another discussion

I got mine through the diabetes uk draw in the post last week and i'm very grateful for it, it's a good meter nice small and portable, has some great features with the usb and works well on my mac so i can download and view the data and view my bg trends with the application supplied on the meter itself, no battery either just charge from usb, needs a little getting used to as i normally use the accu-check aviva which is really simple. Don't like the lancet supplied with it much so i'll stick to the one supplied with the accu-check. Pleased i got it free, still trialing it, may take over my accu-check, all the new data does complicate things a bit more but saves doing a diary all the time.

With regard to any burden on the nhs the test strips to the contour appear cheaper than the avivas so it may be a better choice for me as it saves the nhs a few squid.

I've been using this meter for a while and it's very good. It also self calibrates so you don't need to play around with control solutions etc.

Incidentally the upgrade to this meter (Contour Next Link 2.4) is the meter of choice for Medtronic when using their new 640g insulin pump.

Found the Contour Next USB on the Bayer Diabetes web site where they are offering free 'upgrades'. Just answered a few questions and it arrived a week or so later complete with case, Microlet 2 and samples of lancets and test strips. Very useful.

A tip about the Contour Next USB meter is to hang on to the charger plug. because if you have the medtronic veo pump they give you there Contour link USB meter which sends results to your pump and you can then use the bolus wizard.it is a great meter.
but it only came with a USB cable i guess you can use it for charging from a PC.But the Contour Next USB charger works with both meters.
